I was in the Post Office today.......I picked up the pension for my elderly disabled mother.......£400.......it sounds a lot of money doesn't it?
This was three weeks pension for her.....she can't get out on her own much anymore.
So what looked like a lot of money is already spoken for with bills and shopping.
My mother is 83, has cancer and worked every single day of her life (up to the age of 65) to bring up 7 children.
The money she gets, she has earned.

Good for her she deserves everything she gets and probably more to be honest, but for every deserving case like your mum ,there are 10 more who dont deserve a penny:(

Yes, you are undoubtedly right, but the point I was making is that it is easy to make assumptions about someone who appears to be taking a huge chunk of money out of what might be seen as the community pot.
Those assumptions can be very wide of the mark.

A young man may be seen taking money via the card in the post office....it may not necessarily be his money....he may, like me, be drawing it for someone who is needy and entitled to it.

No-one is giving her anything.

Actually four hundred quid doesn't sound like a lot of money, considering.
