I'm pretty sure ALL (99%+) of the employees at Ben Gurion are of one particular 'ethnic' group , doubt very few Israeli Arabs, either Christian or Muslim ( yep folks there a such things as Christian Arabs) are employed there . Wonder how folks in the UK would feel if only White Christians with military experience were allowed to be employed at airports in the UK :eek: :rolleyes:

If it meant that security was tight, but the passengers were not inconvenienced by it, then I would buy it....but of course there isn't a snowflakes chance in hell that it would happen here......the EU would deem it to be infringement of some human right or other.

I think that passengers are treated abominably in the name of security, and they take it because there is no other option.
Guys in jail get treated with more respect.

We pussyfoot around trying to ignore the 'Elephant in the room'.

Thanks Steeljack, you have just shown the ignorance I was looking for.

Everyone in Israel over the age of 18 has to undertake national service.
Even the small Israeli lady that checked us at the entrance, not armed with a firearm.
In fact at no time did I see anyone with a Pistol or a Sub Machine gun, unlike the UK and the USA.
Best of all, I did not even feel like a terrorist at any time, something I get when we travel to the USA. Its okay for most, as aircrew I have to have TWO visa's for the USA and have to renew them every 5 years. getting a root canal without anaesthetic would be less painful and frustrating.
But of course the great USA's TSA works. Don't make me laugh....

The system they employ in Israel works, and yes there are Muslims going to Jerusalem, even more Christians.
Like the UK most of the people who live in Israel are not religious, they may be Jews, but not practising.

What's the ethnicity of the staff got to do with it? When did you last hear of a check-in girl blowing herself and 50 passengers up? Or any other airport/railway station/bus staff doing similar? So multi ethnic staff are not the problem.It's the methods the Israelis use that get results,not the ethnicity of their staff.
It's the passengers who are the potential risk and at any major airport they will be multi-national,multi-racial and of several religeons.Even at Ben Gurion.
