Re: Eyesore site up for sale
Have any nearby industries left recently?
I thought the problem the last time redevelopment was mooted, a swanky marina and apartments, was that it actually couldn't contain any residential accommodation, because of the proximity to hazardous chemical production. Has this changed? |
Re: Eyesore site up for sale
I am sure that if the Commercial HOTEL was still open would still be able to use its accommodation because it is a HOTEL.
Holland bank house is a residential home and is just as close. The reason for rejecting the Hargreaves warehouse hotel was the chlorine storage at Blythes. The most probable chance of a leak is when changing the chlorine cylinders BUT this is only done during the day. The prevailing wind would move any gas release towards the area of Church Kirk, Therefore, no reason for rejecting the hotel idea As for the old Blair electrical, red brick building, knock it down now. P.S. As it seems to be the centre of Hyndburn you must be heading out of Hyndburn if you are going away from it. |
Re: Eyesore site up for sale
the condition of the con club is a disgrace. everytime u ride up the escalators to tesco you just see the smashed in windows. the church still looks a lil better
personally if they get to the state of the commercial/hargreaves then it should be allowed to be knocked down or else years later it'll still be there as an eyesore |
Re: Eyesore site up for sale
its such a shame that these buildings are left to rot. I hope that someone does try to redevelop them as Hyndburn really is a lovely place. I agree about the con club, not a nice view when you go in the shiny new tesco. Money is tight everywhere though. :(

don't worry, our councilors will be working closely with Barnfield and no doubt it will be developed once the funds are in place, nudge nudge wink wink

Please don't force us to maintain what should be removed for something useful. However if you can afford to maintain what the owner has abandoned then get on with it, I and many others find such projects a leech on real priorities. |

My guess is that some people made a lot of money out of all the demolition. |
