Who wants to do a bit of busking?!

Come on, what act would you do if you were a busker? ;)

Buskers on every street corner for Accrington celebration day (From Lancashire Telegraph)

Like the part in the report saying -

"Performances will also be rotated, so each will feature in prime positions, such as Broadway and the entrance to Accrington Market Hall"

The market hall isnt a prime position, every-one runs in there to use the loo's they havnt got time to watch buskers!!!!! :D:D:D

thing is cashy one you attract people to accy what is there for them to do besides place a bet, browse poundshops, play some fruit machines or browse the charity shops and hope to god you have a strong bladder so you can make it to the tiolets upstairs in the market hall after you have washed down your greggs pasty with the drink in their meal deal.

surely it makes sense to make accy a place worth visiting first :)

Probably just a coincidence.

Either way, great minds and fools, and all that.

Like Cashy, I too think it a good idea.

Well I would, I suppose, having suggested a busking competition.

I saw it on the Arts Centre's Facebook page last week.

I clicked that I 'liked' it, then decided I didn't wan't anyone to think I was taking the pee, so un-'liked' it.

As costs go, just expenses, and a prize, it does seem a good way of bringing some life to the town, for a relatively small cost.

Well done Gayle.

Longest term female resident, who can't speak English.

It just needs creativity.

Is bushing the same as busking or do you have to hide in the bushes to perform??!! :D

I wonder if any marching bands will be taking part. Might be a good day to hold a town centre protest against the closure of the toilets :)

You could combine it with one against the empty shops Dave. I see the shutters are still up outside the regency.

They were doing surveys on it last week which presumably means it's for a new buyer or to go on the market

Re: Who wants to do a bit of busking?!

i may be wrong here but wernt all the regualr buskers told to sod off from accy center at one point and now were organising competions encouraging them to come here.Buskers would come for free if allowed .

i know a lad who used to juggle and perform street entertainment near the arndale entrance who was told not to come back and i recall a man who played the flute with his dog by his side and also a few other performers with violins and guitars. They never got in anyones face but if people wanted to throw somthing in their pot or cap they could oblige.

i suppose my question is after this has happened will street entertainers be allowed back or will they have to wait for an invite from whatever the job title is that organises these things?

I'd sing this.

YouTube - Joan Baez - Where Have All The Flowers Gone

But after the first verse substitute flowers for -

Market stalls.

Shoppers.

Arndale clocks.

Shops.

Toilets.
