Police activity - Milnshaw Park area

Does anyone know what what's happening over by Milnshaw Park, a few police cars around and looks like a tent set up over to the side of the park??????

Tealeaf 16-03-2011 13:13

Re: Police activity - Milnshaw Park area

Sounds like a SOC; what sort of tent?

AccyMad 16-03-2011 13:22

Re: Police activity - Milnshaw Park area

A large white one, the kind they use to protect a crime scene - some of the cars have gone now but there is still a cordon on Hyndburn Road & one car left

heth 16-03-2011 13:42

Re: Police activity - Milnshaw Park area

I were coming on to ask the same question, passed it about an hour ago. Still one car with the path taped off, tents still up aswell

sparkie 16-03-2011 15:22

Re: Police activity - Milnshaw Park area

A friend of mine has just mentioned it on facebook, and it would appear the tent is shrouding a dead body. This is of course according to local scuttlebutt so it may not be and I for one hope it isn't. I'm sure the lancs teledoodah will have something online soon.

I was in Milnsaw Park with the dog at about 10 this morning .
There was no sign of police activity . I asked one of the men working on the bowling green whether anything unusal had been going on . He pointed to a car parked in the field between the park and Owd Bobs . That was the only reason he could give for there having been a police presence . The car wasn't cordoned off .

Was it not Gatty Park area? My sister said there was a police tent there yesterday and asked if I knew what was going on

The body was found just outside the gate near Gatty park, where the path way is to Old Bobs, just behind the wall.

So it was definitely a body? Has someone been murdered or has there been an accident ?

Heard today that it was not a dead body, however apparently a body was there it now appears that it was very serious incident not sure if it would be correct to divulge that information on here due to the nature of the alleged incident. However still no concrete facts.Could all be rumours.

I don't really understand why it's being kept out of the news. It's obvious something has happened and with me having a teenage daughter I'd like to know if there's some nutter on the loose.

Wish someone would let us know what's happened. I usually walk my daughter up owd Bob's every morning. Fortunately, on the morning in question, I got her a taxi to school....and have done ever since!!

Im sure I saw this in a copy of the LET this week- a tiny piece about a reports of a sex attack in gatty park and that a teenage boy had been arrested. Tuesday if my memory doesnt fail me. Doe s not seem to be online though.

You are being too personal, unfortunately, you can be 80 have a daughter and be attacked yourself.

What is needed is some form of reassurance, that the Police are dealing with, 'whatever', but no need for folk like you to panic.

Or

that this is a non story, 'move on now, nothing for you to see', refute of some type of rumour.

swingbrig 27-03-2011 14:23

Re: Police activity - Milnshaw Park area

I live in this area and have a young daughter so it is very worrying. 'Rumour' has it that it was a young boy and very serious. Does anybody have any info on this ??
About 5 years ago someone had been trying to get young girls into their car around here around bonfire time and the police / authorities didn't mention anything until about a week later when it came on Granada Reports - the night before they arrested the 'protected' guy in Huddersfield but we all knew (by word of mouth) to watch the kids.

What was frustrating was that the police were getting incidents reported to them yet not informing the public and two of my daughter's friends had to run from the car!

Would be grateful for some 'word of mouth' .

Thanks

heth 27-03-2011 15:02

Re: Police activity - Milnshaw Park area

Dont think any of us know Swingbrig to be honest.

The police dont seem to want to tell people any information for some reason?

I agree with you though, it is out of order that we dont know anything about this and could potentially be dangerous for local people.

swingbrig 27-03-2011 15:56

Re: Police activity - Milnshaw Park area

Thanks. Daughter has just informed me that there's now a sign up - 'no camping'. The local kids believe it was a girl that was stabbed.

A local lorry driver saw a blue vehicle parked up where the police car was at the bottom of 'Old Bobs' during that night that the alleged incident occurred.

Something has happened - but what??

The silence suggests it is serious. There's definitely no camping for the kids this time!

This happened almost 12 months ago & I haven't heard anything about it.

Now if forensic teams attended & a forensic tent was set up then it seems something serious had gone on & the public should of been made aware of this

Forensic teams called to Accrington park (From Lancashire Telegraph)

Has anyone heard anything regarding this ?

Could be the case Wrighty this was a non incident? Therefore a complete waste of Manpower n Money,Thus making it too embarrassing to comment?

MargaretR 01-03-2012 13:58

Re: Police activity - Milnshaw Park area

If it was a natural death or a suicide there was no crime, and if the family of the deceased wanted 'no publicity' we won't get told.

This seems to be the likeliest explanation.

Until cause of death was known the police couldn't act in any other way that the way they did.

Could well be fella , But for them to go all out with a forensic team & tent does add up

Maybe G Jones & K Moss could use some of that time they have & chase it up & put people at ease that it was nothing to worry about ?

Until the police are sure the death is not suspicious they call in the csi team, my son in law is a former csi officer and it is common practice were a death is not clear cut to call in csi

I just find it strange that there has been no mention of it in the last 12 months , with the forensics involved .. Surely we have a right to know if a serious offence has taken place
