Accrington waits with bated breath.

Unsure, or is it unconcerned, as to the mentality of the Scots, when it comes to religion.

Penny arcade was fantastic yesterday.
Only those who can find something offensive about it will be offended.

The word football in conjunction with Jockland offends me:D

Theres nothing religious about in any way..
But like mentioned someone somewhere will find fault with it..
If anyone takes issue with a national flag being flown then they should bury their heads on friday.

Jockland...hmmm where is strange place I hear mentioned from time to time..?

Its nothing to do with religion anyway its more about utter stupidity, and we're talking two ways here, not a one edged sword

But there is when it comes to Scottish football.

It's always one of the first thing you're asked up there.

'Which side ya from big man?;

So they can decide if you're a proddy dog, or a popish devil.

It'd be laughable, if it wasn't so sad.

I never disagree with anything you post mate but with that I do..
Having being from Scotland and lived there all my life I can say I was never ever ever asked that..the reason being there are separate pubs, schools and areas..sadly..
either you knocked about in the wrong circles or you knocked about with folk who took no interest in football and that was the generalisation and thoughts of those people..
I grew up in the east end if Glasgow as a rangers fan in a catholic area and never heard it.
Or its just the sensationalism that people south of the border want to believe..

You were probably never asked because you were already labelled.

I was asked it in places as diverse as east end dives, to swanky west end dinner parties, by people as different as Big Issue sellers to players and management of the Old Firm teams.

;)

I love Scotland, especially Glasgow, that's why I moved there, but when it comes to religion and football, it turns normally sane people into loons.

I'm only giving my experiences, as they happened, when introduced to someone, wanting to know your religion was one of the first thing I was always asked.

I found it odd, and amusing, because I soon realised it was fun not to tell them.

I've never been asked my religion in a social situation in England.

spugs took his daughter into glasgow shopping and bought her a pressie from the celtic shop ... shes 15 ... walking through glasgow carrying the carrier bag ... a rangers supporter gave her a mouthful .... a 15 year old girl ... if spug had been on his own and carrying the bag i wonder if he'd have got the same ... and honestly if id have been there i'd have given him a mouthful back .... spugs didnt he was more concerned about his daughter .. a day out in glasgow .. and ruined by an idiot ..... oh and spugs is a celtic supporter .. but if i was up in glasgow .. by religon id be a rangers supporter .. especially with my background!!!

...and I include my best friend in that statement, after being held up in traffic in Glasgow by an Orange Day parade, only to see him wind the windows down, and join others in shouting mutual religious abuse.

perhaps but not when going to different areas and meeting different people..

one possible way to start to stop all this is abolish seperate schools..they dont really have non denomonational (sp) schools in scotland/glasgow.. you either go to a protestant or a catholic one...
if kids were all brought up with the same education then it may go along way in stopping some of it..
I for one am glad my kids do go to school in up there..

and I prefer to be asked which foot do I kick with...;)

true - the sick kids taxi parade/trip more or less closes the whole city centre every year...
its still a great sight to see...
every taxi driver giving up their days takings etc (and donating to sick kids hospital) and time to take the sick kids to the coast for the day..they also have to decorate their own taxis..
havent seen it done anywhere else..

Apparently the recent sectarian bombs were traced back to Kilwinning, Ayrshire.

Bomb threats, vile websites, songs of bloodlust and hate ... But why have the crime figures that reveal the true nature of Scotland?s sectarian shame been kept secret? ?We are acting blind without these figures. Let?s discuss it? - Herald Sco

Blimey, it's spreading.

Have hate, and a stamp, will travel.

Kilwinning. Not far from where cmonstanley lives.

Sounds like a hotbed of terrorist cells are at work there.

I'd move. Quckly.

Ok, let's all start waving our Union Jacks and sing the stirring words to that immortal pro-Royalist, anti-Papist anthem, originally sung by our hero......er, Roy Orbison...

A light shone in the night somewhere ahead
Blue turned into green, then it was red.
And, stirring the night, loud music played
The light I saw in the night was a penny arcade.

“Step up and play”, each machine seemed to say
as I walked round and round the penny arcade.
“Just ring the bell on the big bagatelle
and you’ll make all the coloured lights cascade”.

And music played in the penny arcade.
Yes, it played and it played, played all the time
“Roll up and spend your last dime!”

At first I thought it a dream that I was in.
Lost , lost in a sea of glass and tin.
But no, so dipping my hand in the back of my jeans,
I grabbed a handful of coins to feed the machines.

“Step up and play”, each machine seemed to say
as I walked round and round the penny arcade.
“Just ring the bell on the big bagatelle
and you’ll make all the coloured lights cascade”.

“Step up and play”, each machine seemed to say

Doesn't it fill your heart with pride?

No, me neither.

Well there's one thing for sure you've actually got to qualify for the finals to be in with a shout, something that rarely happens in Jockland:D

see the thing is scotland know they are crap so dont need to be told about it - they also dont expect to qualify so when they dont it comes as no suprise anyone...gallant losers springs to mind..:D
unlike england who believe they have the right to be top of every group and qualify for every tourney because they once won the world cup way back in 66..
thats what makes it amusing when they get beat or so - its not because they are english its because they believe they are better than they really are..
p.s I aint a scotland fan by any stretch... I wised up to that in my early years:D

It's done in Manchester every Summer...the city's taxi drivers take the day off to take sick children to Blackpool for the day in a balloon decorated convey.

Also London, Brighton, and Penzance, that I know of.

Been done before in Accy, and even Ossy.

What happened to Neil Lennon was a disgrace. He was driven out of international football by the secterian bigots, and now the same idiots are trying to drive him out as Celtic manager.

They're only jealous because somebody from Northern Ireland who happens to be a Catholic has become succesful.

My father lives in Northern Ireland and you see some of the estates, they have paving stones in either the Irish Tri-colour or Union flag, and flags flying depending on what side of the divide you come from.

Your right it is a disgrace, but I doubt it was the same people who are doing this to him that done it previously..
And total nonsense to say that those who are responsible are jealous of him..

And you tell us nothing new inregards to painted pave stones in certain areas of norn ireland..
I could take you to parts of Glasgow and scotland that have the same thing..

Okay so now we are getting somewhere. It is a charity initiative to raise funds for what seems to be a worthwhile cause.

Nothing wrong with that. Presumably the Rangers fans sing it at every match, not just at Old Firm games.
