The Queen in Ireland
I'm not a particularly strong Royalist, but I have been very impressed this week by the way the Queen has handled the visit to Ireland.
She is, after all, a very old lady who should be sitting with her feet up knitting booties for her grandson's inevitable forthcoming happy event. Instead, she drags herself and her 90 year old hubby off on a 4 day tour of a place where any Tom Dick or Paddy could take a pot shot at her. She has done it with a lot of grace and charm, and as a result has built many many bridges for the future. The Irish people have clearly appreciated what she has done, and have taken to her. As an English person with more than a little Irish blood inside me, I have found the whole trip uplifting! Well Done, Lizzie! |

She's a great woman , and it's good to see the positive response of the Irish people when interviewed on TV . Even Gerry Adam's had praise for her on the radio this morning . |

Re: The Queen in Ireland
I think she has done a very difficult job with grace and great diplomacy.
She has had a lot of practice, but it still takes some doing. I felt for her when she had to walk up all those steps at the Musical evening...wouldn't you think they would have taken her age into consideration, and let her sit where she had no steps to climb.....and her with dodgy knees too. Great Job Your Majesty! |

I agree there's no way I'd do that job.:D |
Re: The Queen in Ireland
Hasn't she got young arms and hands for a lady of her advanced years...must be Fairy.
I wouldn't do her job for all the tea in China...or the Mc Donalds one that she appears to be garbed up to do. |
Re: The Queen in Ireland
I'm just relieved Prince Philip didn't grab the leg of anyone of less than average stature, and demand to know where their pot of gold was hidden.
http://th125.photobucket.com/albums/...ipsCoinLge.gif I bet he was tempted. Especially when he met Westlife, after their concert. http://th665.photobucket.com/albums/...nDancesJig.gifhttp://th665.photobucket.com/albums/...nDancesJig.gifhttp://th665.photobucket.com/albums/...nDancesJig.gifhttp://th665.photobucket.com/albums/...nDancesJig.gifhttp://th665.photobucket.com/albums/...nDancesJig.gif :D |
