Milnshaw park

now we have a new council is there going to be any funds available to restore what was once a great park used by many. Some other parks seem to have had it pretty good under the last regime whilst others have been left to rot.

i no longer live in the milnshaw park area but when i did it was sad that children including my own had no where to play because the park is in such an awful mess.

i think it would be nice to see some funding thrown in its direction.

my friends father used to maintain the grounds there and the big green house if anyone remembers that.

i know times are hard and this isnt the only area neglected while others were favored but it is a damn shame how milnshaw park was left to rot.

mind you i havnt been there for a while im just assuming the place is still a mess so im preppared to stand corrected if its had a major overhaul lately lol

Re: Milnshaw park

back in the late 80's whilst I was at college I had a summer job as Park Warden in Milnshaw, basically just making sure no one was messing about, damaging stuff, taking money for hire of courts etc. It was a cracking park back then, the greenhouses just below the bowling greens full of flowers grown from seed, I bet we now buy in plants at a much higher cost.

there used to be a load of kids come in from the local kids home and I organised football games, taught them how to do crown green bowling etc, I like to think it was a haven away from some of the other troubles they had.
