HM Treasury Scam Phonecalls
I have received a number of complaints from residents this weekend regarding phonecalls purporting to be from the Treasury in London offering tax rebates to UK citizens and asking for bank details.
THIS IS A HOAX. The government does not operate in this way and would not cold call you for your bank details. Please pass this information on to everyone you know. |
Re: HM Treasury Scam Phonecalls
Why are they complaining to you?
Do they think everything is HBC's fault :D |

Re: HM Treasury Scam Phonecalls
I wonder how many of the villagers gave their bank details and are happily waiting for a refund.
Well they do say every village has one :D:D |
Re: HM Treasury Scam Phonecalls
Why don't the police set up an account, and hand out its details to people routinely targeted by these scammers. The idea is that the bank is in on the scheme, and when the scammers attempt to plunder the account, they can be traced....

You can report the phone calls to your nearest enquiry office and, if you ever get an email, forward it on to [email protected]
We used to get hundreds of calls a day to the call centre in Workington asking for their money after receiving the mail outs...HMRC don't use email. HM Revenue & Customs: HM Revenue & Customs related phishing examples |
