Jack Straw

BBC News - Jack Straw calls for reform of car insurance industry
I have to say I agree one hundred percent with Jolly Jack on this one, insurance companies selling clients accident details to ambulance chasers for a fee, do these greedy sods not make enough money out of people to start with without this seedy practice

All Insurance companies are in business to make money...for no other reason.
The law requires vehicles to be insured so the insurance companies are assured of a never ending supply of people who have to buy their service.

Insurance status is calculated on risk...so if you live in an area where there have been a lot of accidents...and therefore claims, your insurance rises.....more so if you have been involved in an accident.

I am not saying that the insurance companies have got it right, but the only way it can be sorted is to stamp on the unscrupulous people who claim for non existent injuries......or make their injuries out to be worse than they actually are.
Also there have been a fair number of crash for cash scams going on in the area....this also puts the cost of insurance up.

Funny how Jacks all for reform, and able to speak out against grooming, now he's out of office, and heading for retirement.

Perhaps he should have tackled these issues when he was in a position to do something about it, i.e. when Labour were in power.

I've been retired for over a decade so am out of the loop, but in the days of yor when I was in business we received notification of the contents of the then new Data Protection Act which stipulated that no name or personal details on a computer list could be passed on to a third party. Parliament has either reworded the Act or there's some jiggery pokery going on.

You have an accident, claim for the damage to your car, one of the two insurance companies tell the claims lawyers(and gets up to £1000 from them??), they get you to claim for an injury(genuine or not), you succeed and ONE of the two original insurance companies pays up!! They all then put up everyones car insurance because we're all claiming injury payments! More profit!
This is a beautiful racket.
