Yet somehow there always seems to be a handful of people who HAVE been there forever and they think they're amazing.

Well it isn't amazing to be in a job like that all your life, you're probably a mug. If anyone is looking for a job right now, aim high. As much as it is tempting to apply for the jobs that seem like you can just walk right into them, it is worth putting in the extra effort and ironing your shirt to get a better job.

I can ID with that. The permanenet staff become 'trainers' to the temps and think they're a higher life form. It goes to their heads. Thats the factory mentality. Seen it a few times.

I had a tassel-sticking, glitter-shaking 6 weeks there as a student back in the summer of1983 - it was still Joseph Arnold's then.
I remember it being OK, except when on the packing machines (BORING) -some great people worked there -had quite few laughs though you weren't really supposed to talk a lot and could only go to the loo for so many minutes and when it was your turn.... worse than being at school.
They had a great canteen too.

That was in the warehouse. I solely worked at the Clayton site. And also when it was in Preston, I actually moved from Preston when the Findel relocated from Preston to Clayton.

the only thing i remeber fondly of that place is that if you pressed the top button and middle button on the drinks machine at the same time you got a free can of pop although you never knew which one you were going to get.Im surprised that machine ever made any money lol :)

I dont think a lot would stay if it was possible to go from one job to another, but as the stampede to work at tesco proves there are a lot out of work and no jobs for them to do. Hence the reason people stay in jobs that they hate rather than sign on.
