Sad news re: Pendy.

I'm afraid I've some sad news to pass on regarding one of our long time members Pendy.

David, Pendy's husband has asked me to post the sad news that Angela passed away at her home in London last Friday.

I'm afraid I've no further details, other than it's going to be a family cremation in London.

I'd like to pass on my own sympathies to David, and Angela's children.

Although she lived in London, they also had their home up here, in an area she still loved passionately.

I'll remember her as a lovely friend, and neighbour.

A very intelligent, classy lady, who had a great sense of fun.

Many members will have happy memories of the fun times we shared at the old Accy Web meets at The Stag Inn.

You really were a unique, and lovely person.

I'll fondly remember your laugh as we waltzed round The Stag, and I'll miss you popping in for a chat, and usually catching me still in my dressing gown.

Rest in peace Angela/Pendy.

As a post script I'd just like to say to Angela's friends, unfortunately my phone line has a fault, although I can still use the internet, so rather than phoning me, it's probably easier to message me on here, if I can be any help. Though at this time I don't know the day of the funeral.

very very sad news, she was a lovely and a interesting eccentric lady, oh and after a few drinks she was absolutely hysterical. The stories she used to tell of her life and work down london had many of us laughing our heads off!!!

RIP Angela and my thoughts are with her family and friends

Sadly, never had the pleasure of meeting the lady, but she sounds a real character - just the sort of person that has made Accyweb so unique.

RIP Pendy.

Re: Sad news re: Pendy.

I am very saddened by this news.

Like everyone else says, she was a lady with a big personality.

I loved her eccentricity, stories of her life, her generosity and unquestionable high intelligence.

I saw her last in Accrington, wheel chair bound. She was whizzing along, with David and her friend trying to catch up with her. Made me smile.

When she saw me she offered up her arms for a big hug which I accepted readily, and she held my hand during the ensuing conversation whilst offering me a cigarette several times.

Did go to a party at her house and would describe it more as a soiree with copious amounts of drinks and platters of food.

The world will be less colourful with this lady no longer with us. I wonder who will be doing her eulogy ? No doubt, will be plenty of lovely anecdotes there.

R.I.P. dearest Pendy. xx

Thanks for letting us know, Garinda.

I come from Church, but I've moved around a bit (it's harder to hit a moving target), now landed up in London but as of last year also have a house in Ossy, where we spend as much time as possible. Started life as Angela Pendergast, living in Lion Street and Oswald Street. Am looking forward very much to seeing more old friends, courtesy of Mez, over the Bank Holiday weekend, and boy I am looking forward to the party we'll have in Ossy this Christmas!

If anyone remembers me, tell me, don't tell everybody else!

My first ever pm. was from Pendy. I didn't even know how to open it. She was replying to the question I'd asked in a thread, as to whether she'd been in the scouts with my Dad. Amused, she said she'd known a lot of scouts in her younger days, but her gender prevented her having been one herself.

She was also the very first Accy Webber I met via this forum.

The bell went. I opened the door, and in flew Pendy.
Proclaiming, in her cut glass accent, as she rushed past me, and settled herself on the sofa.
'Darling, you're much too young to have bloody Parkinson's, and I have a feeling we are going to be very good friends.'

She was right. As she usually was.

One of the most interesting, and uniquely eccentric people I've had the pleasure to meet.

Life will be much duller here without her.

Thanks Garinda for letting us know. I was only thinking the other night, that me and Sparks hadn't seen Pendy for ages.

My condolences to David and her family. Angela was a special lady whose life had not been without tragedy. Despite those tragedies she had a wicked sense of humour and was always full of fun. I have honestly laughed til I cried at some of her stories on nights out.

RIP Pendy.

How very sad. Condolences to David and their family. I remember at my first AW meet when I was VERY pregnant with Emily she was telling me how she hated children and she would eat them if they came close!!! She had me in in stitches......almost put me into labour!!! She was eccentric and I love people like that. She had an air or nobility about her, as does David.

Sleep well Pendy xx

Aye, it's very sad. Angela knew me from when I was a day old (not that I knew then, of course) but after she moved away from Church back in the 60's I never saw her again until I met up with her (thanks to this thing) for an after work drink in London, some six years ago. (I'll tell you the story one day about that meeting and a drunken ex-Blackpool policeman and a Mexican barman).

So Angela is now the other side of the great pearly gates regaling them with her wisdom, wit and hilarious tales. She'll be missed, but tonight I'll have a drink to her.

I knew Angela very well from my Teens we dated a couple of times, her mother was a real nice lady too, Recently I had contact with her through Friends reunited, before I joined accyweb, when she said she hope to spend some time back in Ossy as her cousin Richard was in poor health, he was also a friend of mine from school and teenage years. I'm really sort to here of her death, she was a fun lass to be with life and soul of the party RIP Angela

Sincere condolencess to David and Pendy's family and friends. We were only thinking about her the other day. She hadn't seemed at all well last time we saw her but we have lots of fond memories. I was thinking about the time she was trying to serve me some of the 'non-sherry' portions of her sherry trifle - and managing to get trifle all over the place!
