police activity on avenue parade tonight..
My sister lives on avenue parade near the bottom and tonight after seeing and hearinga few blues and twos she had 2 police officers banging on her front window..when she opened the front door they asked her if she'd had any rspca people at her door as they had reports that bogus people are in the area..anyone else hear this?
To be honest I think there is more to it as the amount of cars and police power seemed excessive for a bogus caller.. |
Re: police activity on avenue parade tonight..
i suppose in all fairness it depends what the bogus caller is doing if he gains access to someones home

Re: police activity on avenue parade tonight..
They (RSPCA callers) were round at our house last night said we already had enough monthly pet expense....Don't they realise how much it costs to keep a westie?

Re: police activity on avenue parade tonight..
I also had RSPCA at my Door yesterday, I've got two bunnies and a baby! He was very quick to move on to the next house.

Re: police activity on avenue parade tonight..
I live on Avenue Parade, didn't see or hear any Police but did have someone saying they were from the RSPCA knock on my door yesterday afternoon asking for donations. He was a young tallish asian chap, very friendly to talk to even though i didn't sign up for giving any money. I saw him later talking to someone in a white van higher up!
Best Regards - Taggy |
Re: police activity on avenue parade tonight..
As well as asking for, and gaining, some cash it could have been a pretext for finding out which houses had dogs -possible future targets for burglars, they would obviously want to avoid any with dogs which would bark!

Re: police activity on avenue parade tonight..
I had heard before that muslims don't like dogs and so I looked it up.
Islam and dogs - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I suppose that the muslims who keep dogs are like the catholics who eat fish on Fridays. |

not taking the pee there either but it seems some muslims born here will happily own a dog yet others have an irrational dislike for them. It seems the muslims that are more westernized dont have a problem with dogs yet those that follow the whole tradition and wear the outfit and little hat etc do. despite my best effort im sure i have just been very politically incorrect but one can only do one's best :) |

Religious impurity Muslims generally cast dogs in a negative light because of their ritual impurity. Muhammad didn't like dogs according to Sunni tradition.[2] (However, this may simply reflect general cultural views of the time, rather than a personal animosity.[4]) It is said that angels do not enter a house which contains a dog. Though dogs are not allowed for pets, they are allowed to be kept if used for work, such as guarding the house or farm, or when used for hunting purposes. In a tradition found in the Sunni hadith book, al-Muwatta, Muhammad states that the company of dogs voids a portion of a Muslim's good deeds.[5] |

- The Pope eats beaver, in particular on a Friday or in Lent. The Roman Catholic Church designated it a fish because they are scaly and live in water. Catholics are not allowed to eat meat on Fridays or in Lent. 400 tonnes of capybara, the largest rodent of Earth, is eaten during Lent in Venezuela. Beavers excrete castoreum, which is used in aspirin. (Taken from QI) Shut up Accyman.:D |

I understand that Halal and Kosher rules are religious practices, so why don't all christians have a rule about 'no meat on Friday'?

So, if a muslim was contemplating buying a house in a particular area, he may well decide to find out how many dogs there are in the district.
