The Seven Deadly Sins...

Which one is your weakness, are you brave enough to admit to it? Is it more than one?

Are Accywebbers typical sinners or not....

You can vote for more than one option as some, like me, may have more than one failing.

Mine are:
Gluttony -I love fine food and wine -would kill for oysters and champagne at times.
Lust - only virtual, i have a fertile imagination!
Sloth -leave things till the last minute , am lazy.

Link below for a description of the 7 sins.

Gluttony yes, wrath sometimes.

garinda 16-11-2011 07:22

Re: The Seven Deadly Sins...

PRIDE - No, in case I fall.

AVARICE (GREED) - Nope, as you can't take it with you.

ENVY - No, consider it a waste of energy. Energy that could be better used to achieve what it is you admire, someone else has.

WRATH (ANGER) - No. Again it takes too much effort, and time, that could be used tackling what might irritate you.

LUST - Yes, great fun. Though not something you can have a great deal of control over. It makes the world go round, and is the reason we're all here.

GLUTTONY - Yup, if something gives me pleasure, I'll happily fill my boots.

SLOTH - No. I may test myself, by leaving things until the last minute, but I always do everything I want to do, to the best of my ability, and on time.

None of them.......now does anyone know where I can get this blooming Halo cut off?....it is crushing my brains :D.

Seriously though, I am human...so probably all of them at some time or another.
I think my worst sin is to have impure thoughts. And by this I do not mean the ones that involve carnal pursuits. I mean the ones where I think 'if he leaves that cupboard door open again, I am going to kill him'.
I'm sure I am not alone in this......and you can, I am sure think of ones of your own.
Mobertol, perhaps you would file this under Wrath, but to me it isn't in that category, because frequently it isn't 'heated - or angry'....it is just exasperation.

None of the above, I have a superb imagination and will always be tempted by original sin(s).

jaysay 16-11-2011 09:11

Re: The Seven Deadly Sins...

Pride - no chance

Averise - no, quite happy with what I have

Envy - no, don't give a toss what anybody else has

Wrath - occasionally;)

Lust - the minds always willing the bodies always weak:D

Gluttony -not really these days, I used to drink more than my share of ale at one time:rolleyes:

Sloth - na. can't stand being late or leaving things for another day

Great answer Less, sure you can be very original at times.

Question... does he get his oats if he's been good? ;) (absolutely no need to answer!)

I will draw a veil over that answer. The method must have some merits, we have just clocked up 45 years of marriage......I think that is only because I feel I am too knackered to begin training another man...dogs are a lot more compliant. :)

I know exactly what you mean -I have been the same all my life -watch out for the promised "up-rising" (see thread on Birth Order!) -enough is enough!
Not wrath actuall, for me it translates to Sloth -how do i get there -well for a quiet life, do nothing about it -let sleeping dogs lie. Time for revenge - woman bites dog!!:D

Never Let The Baddies Get You Down!!;):D

The oldest definition of "perfection", fairly precise and distinguishing the shades of the concept, goes back to Aristotle. In Book Delta of the Metaphysics, he distinguishes three meanings of the term, or rather three shades of one meaning, but in any case three different concepts. That is perfect:

1. which is complete — which contains all the requisite parts; OK

2. which is so good that nothing of the kind could be better; Maybe

3. which has attained its purpose; Possibly

'Fraid you're not the perfect 10 quite yet Cashy -not far off though -keep trying...:D

Re: The Seven Deadly Sins...

I am ashamed to say that my 2 main sins have to be Gluttony and Sloth.

Gluttony - I love the finer things in life, good food and drink, great entertainment and experiences. If all of these things are provided by someone else and I do not have to seek them out for myself, then all the better.

Sloth - I just can't be arsed sometimes. I am happy to be apathetic sometimes in order to keep the peace, especially at work. I am often full of good intentions but lack motivation. In other words, my get up and go has got up and gone.:D

I am not perfect and being the Glutton that I am probably explains the Gallstones that I now have (although I am not overweight). I happen to like the fact that I am not perfect, I think it makes me more interesting.

Got little bits of all of 'em ... depends on what's happening in my life ... I like Sloth sometimes, and wouldn't mind having one of them as a pet.;) Just checked out the seven virtues ... kinda boring, particularly the fides, spes, caritas stuff ... I think that's Latin for "feed us peas and carrots":)

I wonder why there are only seven ... surely a creative species such as ours could have come up with another three, so that we could have a nice round number, ten ... like in the ten commandments.:alright:

Oh dear Retlaw! I am not going to enter into a discussion about how I have trained him.
As for sitting up for biscuits...no, he just goes and helps himself to them:D

And if you knew me....I mean really knew me, you would know that I am the least selfish person you are likely to meet.
If I were as selfish as you think I am I would not spend time doing the things that I do for other people.

Lol, cheers Rindy, you are welcome to my stones. According to my scans, they are rather large. My gluttonous attitude means that I have been cultivating them for quite some time. I had cufflinks made out of mine ... can't for the life of me figure where I put them:confused: (No, not in my shirt cuffs ... don't do shirts and ties any more; I'm into the dishevelled look;)) They don't polish well; but you could clearcoat them.

Good luck with the jewellery angle of your stones......when I was in theatre, I was washing a very nice handful that the lady said she was going to have made into a necklace....they crumbled into sand and went down the drain in Theatre 2.
I had to visit the lady on Ward 3 and tell her what had happened to her stones...and why she would not be wearing them around her rather ample neck.

Was there nothing else hanging about in theatre, which had been recently removed, you could have given her, to make her dreams come true?

Oh God! No.....couldn't do that......eeeew, would you want to be walking round with something hanging round your neck that had grown in someone else's inside?
Anyway she didn't need anything to draw attention to her neck....that may sound very unkind, but it was true. You accentuate your best feature to draw attention away from your failings...don't you?

Since indulgence in or culpability of any one of the Seven Deadly Sins can get you consigned to Hell for eternity,(in theory). And since I am a firm believer in the maxim that one might just as well be hanged for a sheep as for a lamb. I have signed up for all of them. My only dilemma now is...which one should I start with first?

Margaret Pilkington 18-11-2011 15:29

Re: The Seven Deadly Sins...

you could always go in alphabetical order, but I think you should start on the more active ones...Lust, gluttony....and I know it isn't active in the real sense of the word....but sloth is a good one too.
Envy and Pride seem just a bit tame....now Wrath....that might also be interesting...but please A-B don't practice on me. :)

Ohh! As if I would, The very idea!

But thanks for the pointers. I think I might make a start with Gluttony. I've just peeled a huge pile of Maris Piper's and they are going in my Gran's brown dish with some onion, stock and best mince and the thickest, shortest pastry top you have ever seen. I have soaked my own mushy peas and with lots of red cabbage and Brown Sauce I shall have swelled to the size of Clayton by seven o'clock.

She did have the tiniest waist though -you can't have everything!;)

(She had serious issues with food all her life after nearly dying of starvation during the war in Belgium -probably this led to the niffy smells..)

Lol, it honestly crossed my mind, if it had something to do with the war, and there not being much spare soap in Belgium, and the Netherlands.

Rank underarm or not, she was very charming.

I like a good novice's tale, yes.

There's not many of her films I dislike.

She didn't sing a word in My Fair Lady. She tried, and it was dreadful.

I'm suprised M. Hubert de Givenchy didn't tell her she stank, when he was running up her frocks in Breakfast at Tiffany's.
