Which character would you be.
It's Christmas...the Panto season.
Next Saturday we are going to see Dick Whittington at KGH. I am looking forward to it...being such an overgrown tinlid myself. I whoop, I shout, I boo and hiss....and generally enter into the spirit of the Panto. This got me thinking....if you were a panto character which one would you be....and why? I would be Aladdins mother - she is a washer woman isn't she? Well, I have the washday red hands that all good washer women have. So come on who would you be? |
Re: Which character would you be.
Well I mentioned in my comment on your blog that I was usually the wicked witch when I did amateur dramatics. Typecasting... no rehearsal or acting required! mind you I also played Dorcas Lane when we did Lark Rise to Candleford... that was a bit more difficult... and a White Hole when we did a space-themed panto.

Re: Which character would you be.
I could be an ugly sister...I have my own in built bustle...but they would have to find me some stick on warts.
|
Re: Which character would you be.
I'd be the fairy godmother, they usually cast you as opposites to what you really are.....right????

Re: Which character would you be.
Gotta be Buttons ... My mom took me to the Hippodrome in '49 to see "Cinderella" ... I remember that she then took me to my grandad's place and I told him all about the show; esp. how I got to go onto the stage and stand next to Buttons ... my grandad died that night. Years later my mom told me she believed that he held on to life so that I could tell him about the show. He knew how I excited I was about going. Maybe ... maybe not; but I love to believe it.

And there's always room in any production for more than one wicked witch. Forgot to mention earlier that I've also played a tea bag in my diverse acting career - now that really was type casting! |
Re: Which character would you be.
Quite simple for me really no thought necessary Prince Charming:D
|
Re: Which character would you be.
I'd be Peter Pan, as I have never really grown up and hopefully never will..:D

Now, now boys....i thought this would be a happy, chritmassy thread with no nastiness......OK So you boo and hiss at the pantomime villains, but not at one another, please.
Spirit of goodwill and all that.:) And don't come with the 'she started it first Miss'....or I will have to bang all your heads together to see who gets the hardest knock(my dad always used that as a threat when we were misbehaving....only ever having the one child, I have never got to use it back....until recently). |

Groove would also be Prince Charming. His popularity amongst other Accyweb members signifys this, as he's sure you would all agree.

Re: Which character would you be.
Have never really gone for the Prince Charming type...
Find a "beast" more exciting and interesting therefore, even if I don't quite match the description, I'll go for Beauty.... |

Cue for a pantomime song:- 'shine you buttons with brasso only threeha'pence a tin'. |
Re: Which character would you be.
No, No....groove you could never be Prince Charming....now if there was a pantomime with Prince Irritating, Prince Aggravating, or Prince awkward...you would get the part right away............Prince Charming, indeed. Where do you get your ideas from.

Re: Which character would you be.
Groove thinks Margaret.P would be the wicked witch of the east.
|

Yes, the front end would be jet propelled....the back end would be holding his nose I guess.
I could be Snow White(I did once dress up as Snow White and parade around Blackburn town centre collecting money for the Hospice....a long time ago)....I have a couple of white streaks in the front of my hair now.....or perhaps one of the seven dwarfs(or should that be dwarves).........I would, of course, have to be Happy....but at a pinch I could be Surly or Snarly.:) |

I always wanted to have jet black hair as a girl -had the exact opposite. In my case it was watching Westerns that did it, wished I could have the lovely black plaits of the squaws! Mini Ha-ha eat your heart out;):D Perhaps I could play Tiger Lily in Peter Pan -with a wig, of course! |
Re: Which character would you be.
Where is Colin Firth when he's needed - Jane Austen for inventing Mr.Darcy....the world is full of frogs and it's all her fault.:D
We would be Princesses, who see through the Prince Charmings, need our Beasts -why are they so good at being beastly and are never there when needed....;):D Am I beginning to see the charm of the seven dwarfs:eek: |

Up until my early forties I had waist length hair too. Over the years my hair has gone lighter with two grey Mallen streaks....and since last November I have a white flash on top of my head too....so I guess I would have to resort to a wig to play Snow White. |

Re: Which character would you be.
Maybe we could expand the list of pantomime characters to include the "forgotten" men and women who would be lurking somewhere in the background.
Like the social security fraud investigator sent to check on the young girl claiming a carers allowance for looking after seven single men with stunted growth........ ...or the trading standards inspector responding to a complaint that a market trader had sold what he claimed to be "magic" beans that, when thrown through the window, had taken root and grown hundreds of feet overnight..... |
Re: Which character would you be.
I'll be jesus .. ( pre nails) :D
|
Re: Which character would you be.
I would be "Fleshcreep" the Tax collector in Jack @ Beanstalk. a spare bob or twos always handy at xmas.:D

Re: Which character would you be.
I would like to be Cinderella. For several reasons
a. because I'm cute b. because I'm a bit of a martyr c. because I get Prince Charming at the end D. because I would love to be able to sing like this.... Cecila Bartoli - La Cenerentola - Non piu mesta - YouTube Stick with it, it is amazing. |
Re: Which character would you be.
But, then again, perhaps I could be an arch Villain.
I would just love to be Scarpia. "Tosca, you make me forget my God" Ruggero Raimondi - Tosca - Va, Tosca (Te Deum) - YouTube |

The script writer.
Forty miles to London, and still no sign of Dick....or a Hyndburn councillor, now they can't stand the heat, because they're in power. My, the Prince's balls get bigger every year....nearly as big as the whoppers Graham Jones tells about democracy on Accy Web. Comes easily to me, comedy, with such great material to work with.:D |
