Which character would you be.

It's Christmas...the Panto season.
Next Saturday we are going to see Dick Whittington at KGH.
I am looking forward to it...being such an overgrown tinlid myself.
I whoop, I shout, I boo and hiss....and generally enter into the spirit of the Panto.
This got me thinking....if you were a panto character which one would you be....and why?

I would be Aladdins mother - she is a washer woman isn't she?
Well, I have the washday red hands that all good washer women have.

So come on who would you be?

Re: Which character would you be.

Well I mentioned in my comment on your blog that I was usually the wicked witch when I did amateur dramatics. Typecasting... no rehearsal or acting required! mind you I also played Dorcas Lane when we did Lark Rise to Candleford... that was a bit more difficult... and a White Hole when we did a space-themed panto.

I could be an ugly sister...I have my own in built bustle...but they would have to find me some stick on warts.

I'll grab that part. Always wanted to do the wicked witch, got tired of playing the goody Principal Boy about 10 times.

"Boo! Hiss!"
"Argh shurrup, you sniveling little snot-rags or I'll mince you all up to fit in McDonald's Beefburgers!":p

Yeah ! Bring it on.

Re: Which character would you be.

Gotta be Buttons ... My mom took me to the Hippodrome in '49 to see "Cinderella" ... I remember that she then took me to my grandad's place and I told him all about the show; esp. how I got to go onto the stage and stand next to Buttons ... my grandad died that night. Years later my mom told me she believed that he held on to life so that I could tell him about the show. He knew how I excited I was about going. Maybe ... maybe not; but I love to believe it.

Yeah ! Bring it on.

As I said Kate, no acting required...

And there's always room in any production for more than one wicked witch.

Forgot to mention earlier that I've also played a tea bag in my diverse acting career - now that really was type casting!

Calm down Margaret, I know I was smiling when I read her post and anything she says against Jay or myself can be taken with a pinch of sea salt!
We know she is harmless, but it would be terribly impolite to ignore her after she has put so much effort into making a fool of herself.

No, No....groove you could never be Prince Charming....now if there was a pantomime with Prince Irritating, Prince Aggravating, or Prince awkward...you would get the part right away............Prince Charming, indeed. Where do you get your ideas from.

Yes, the front end would be jet propelled....the back end would be holding his nose I guess.

I could be Snow White(I did once dress up as Snow White and parade around Blackburn town centre collecting money for the Hospice....a long time ago)....I have a couple of white streaks in the front of my hair now.....or perhaps one of the seven dwarfs(or should that be dwarves).........I would, of course, have to be Happy....but at a pinch I could be Surly or Snarly.:)

Do you have skin white as snow, lips red as blood, and hair black as ebony?

I always wanted to have jet black hair as a girl -had the exact opposite.

In my case it was watching Westerns that did it, wished I could have the lovely black plaits of the squaws! Mini Ha-ha eat your heart out;):D

Perhaps I could play Tiger Lily in Peter Pan -with a wig, of course!

My hair used to be black.......not quite jet black......yes my skin is pale....and I have a lovely red Chanel lipstick which would complete the picture.
Up until my early forties I had waist length hair too.

Over the years my hair has gone lighter with two grey Mallen streaks....and since last November I have a white flash on top of my head too....so I guess I would have to resort to a wig to play
Snow White.

Maybe we could expand the list of pantomime characters to include the "forgotten" men and women who would be lurking somewhere in the background.

Like the social security fraud investigator sent to check on the young girl claiming a carers allowance for looking after seven single men with stunted growth........

...or the trading standards inspector responding to a complaint that a market trader had sold what he claimed to be "magic" beans that, when thrown through the window, had taken root and grown hundreds of feet overnight.....

There was also the infamous pest control officer, the people of the town refused to pay when they discovered he had illegally disposed of the rodents bodies in the local water supply.
This affected his mind so much that he later went on to be accused and convicted of child abduction.

Oh well, it's nice to dream, but I suppose I shall probably end up with the part of the back end of the cow in "jack and the beanstalk". But be warned, anyone who mentions 'milking' is likeley to get a thick ear.

The script writer.

Forty miles to London, and still no sign of Dick....or a Hyndburn councillor, now they can't stand the heat, because they're in power.

My, the Prince's balls get bigger every year....nearly as big as the whoppers Graham Jones tells about democracy on Accy Web.

Comes easily to me, comedy, with such great material to work with.

:rolleyes::D

Ya its always wonderful telling other people how to do thinks to the cheers of the masses, but when your in power making the decisions and masses turn nasty when they no longer want to share those inner secretes, they take their bat and ball home, reminds me of when I was a kid, we had one lad who had a brand new bat and ball but wanted to open the batting and bowling, we told him where to go and he didn't like it:hehetable
