What's our MP up to?

Well, Jonesy certainly has his finger on the pulse. His constituents will be really worried about his latest cause. Nevermind trivialities like a referendum on EEC membership, what about the poor old Sealyham Terrier?

From the Telegraph:

Hyndburn MP backs campaign to save rare British dog (From Lancashire Telegraph)

Some interesting comments on the article, the first one being:

"Its just a pity that you have nothing else to concentrate your efforts on then for your £70,000 plus expenses a year.
Dont bother yourself with Banking crisis, un-employment, terrorism, 3rd world famine etc etc.
& you MP's wonder why you are dis liked so much."

Bloody hell.

Must have been when I was ill.

When was the decision taken to give dogs the vote?

Still, being dumb animals, they might offer him their support.

Unlike anyone else, with half a brain.

Though that 40 odd make up the vast majority of Accy Web members.

Still, he's always got you.

You should try and get him to stand in Bermondsey.

Always a warm welcome for Labour there.

Well there was when it was a safe Labour seat...until Peter Tatchell stood there for Labour in 1983, and received the most appalling abuse in any by-election of the twentieth century.

Get your own dog house in order, before criticising our's.

steady rindy no point argueing some people would vote for a dog turd if it had a red rose stuck on it.

unlike some if a party or its representitive no longer acts or supports things i agree with they no longer get my vote.

It shows how far labour have fallen when labour supporters start thinking conservitives are the better option for now.Conservitives may well be the evil party but they are the lesser evil at the moment.

ps:

if we had a tory MP and that MP also screwed us over the way GJ did that MP would get just as much flack for it as well.

The vast majority of active members, interested enough to bother voting in these particular polls.

You say '40 odd'.

I say, 89%, 89%, 79% and 79%.

Since you're so impressed, ask him how he feels about having a stab in your own constituency, Bermondsey.

22,000 members and only the poor Cock-er-nee Sparra', and the tartan tantrum, CmonEileen, offering him any support on here.

What an appallingly embarrassing position to be in.

Why is he so unpopular?..does he do a bad job as a local MP..or is it just because he didn't vote for a referendum?

As I say, shouldn't you really be campaiging for the return the safe Labour seat of Bermondsey to the fold...after nearly twenty nine years?

I can pass you Peter Tatchell's contact details, if you like.

If you think humbly apologising might help.

From what you hear in shops, buses, pubs, market, streets etc, the reasons seem many and varied.

Though the greater majority seem to believe he's in the pay of his party, rather than the local people who voted he represent them.

Up his own New Labour arse, and woefully out of touch, with what the ordinary person's thinking.

In a nut shell.

More of that later.

I'll save that for nearer to an election.

Yeah, all through that terrible time, and Hyndburn kept returning a Conservative M.P.

Odd, what folks'll do.

Happily I wasn't one of them.

I think I can agree with this. After all he is merely trying to preserve a particular breed ... t'aint like dogs are an endangered species. I would be fully in favor of an MP, any MP whatever party he represented, acting against animal cruelty ... but this issue isn't remotely like this.

I've heard it only drinks Evian water, and eats a particular type of pâté de foie gras.

The pampered pouch's dietary costs will presumably rocket, once we finally break free from the E.U.'s grasp.

The democratically elected British government want him deported, but thanks to the faceless morons who now rule over us, on mainland Europe, the terrorist supporter is here to stay.

Even more galling are these facts...

'He is currently being held at Belmarsh prison at a cost to Britain of £70,000-a-year while his family is believed to be living in an £800,000 house, raking in benefits worth around £50,000 a year.'
I'm quite sure 95% of Britons will supprt this decision, imposed on us by our European puppet masters.

Three cheers for Europe!

Just to clarify matters .

In Zurich in 1946 Sir Winston Churchill called for a "kind of United States of Europe" and the creation of a Council of Europe .

The Council of Europe was founded in 1949 by the Treaty of London .

The Council of Europe , with all of its 47 member states , adopted the European Convention on Human Rights .

This Convention established the European Court of Human Rights .

It is an entirely separate body from the European Union .

Churchill.

Good war time leader, but also capable of being a total buffoon.

I'm with my great grandfather on this one. After the cruel and stupid actions he exhibited towards the workers, in the Great Strike.

This issue isn't unconnected with our membership of the E.U.

Britain should be in charge ot it's own destiny. As it has successsfully in the past, century, after century.

We never voted as a people, to have our democratically elected government be overruled by some greater European super power.

Our government want this man out, as do the vast majority of the people of this country.

We don't want idiots on mainland Europe, telling us what to do, and proclaiming that this arse is staying here, and we'll pay for the privilege.

I am heartily sick of reading stuff about these people who leech of the state....and sick of reading that our lily livered politicians do nothing concrete about it.
Would France put up with his antics? Would they keep him in prison at vast costs to the tax payer.....and keep his brood sat about claiming money from the communal pot(which as Jaysay observes, they have contributed nothing)? I think the answer to both of those questions would be a big fat NO.

JCB is right of course but Russia, although a signatory, has objected to many of the European Courts rulings which said Russia was in breach and I believe they got away with it. The Russian Courts said something like Russia was protected from European Court decisions which affected Russian security or sovereignty.
If the Russians have ruled that and got away with it why can't we?

Just a point- the European Court has said if it has confirmation that evidence obtained by torture will not be used in his trial there is no reason why he can't be extradited to Jordan-so go for it, Theresa !
