Sick to the teeth!
As mentioned in a previous thread the local Dentist continue with the great rip off.
Some weeks back I visited my local gold digger,to have a root filling;today I went for my six monthly checkup(£16+).I happened to mention that the tooth had been giving me a bit of trouble.'Yes,it will probably need capping soon!"Was the answer. So having spent £106 pounds for the filling,£16 for the checkup,I can now look forward to a £200 bill in the not to distant future, for one tooth!! When will this licensed robbery come to an end? Is it too late for me to retrain as a Dentist? |
Re: Sick to the teeth!
My girls and I just went for check-ups and glad to say that none of us need treatment but you do have my sympathy for those bills.
I was given a letter regarding missed appointments, basically the gist of it being that people will be charged for wasting time if they fail to turn up without a valid reason for doing so. It wasn't so much the charge for that which amazed me as the fact that there are people out there who have dental appointments and don't turn up in a time when it's next to impossible to get a dentist if you are new to the area. |
Re: Sick to the teeth!
My mates mother has just been sacked by her NHS dentist in Preston for complaining that the upper plate he made for her didn't fit properly. Now she has to go private. The consultation will cost £100. The new plate will cost £1,200. Have you ever thought that you made the wrong career choice?

Re: Sick to the teeth!
I've just had a reminder that I'm due for a checkup - but my dentist is now private only, so it would set me back £65! I won't be going - it'll be cheaper to just drink soup when I lose all my teeth!!!

Re: Sick to the teeth!
I have had to pay to go private, just so that they will treat my son on NHS.:(

Re: Sick to the teeth!
Yes Pixie that seems to be the latest scam.Another one is to announce new NHS surgeries, build the client base up;then go private!
The founders of the NHS must be spinning. |
Re: Sick to the teeth!
Yeah I know. I was furious at being charged 10.50 per month for a private practice plan and if it had just been myself I would have chanced it. But I don't want to do that with a young baby - if he has any teeth problems I want them sorting out ASAP rather than trying to find an NHS dentist. Its a total con no doubt about it.

Re: Sick to the teeth!
There was a time when we were all being urged to attend for dental check-ups on a regular basis but now some people can't find a dentist for love nor money. What went wrong?

It was Greed!

Re: Sick to the teeth!
I'm at the dentist tomorrow, hope it's not my last on the NSH.

Re: Sick to the teeth!
I can see the dentists point of view in a way...I mean why make a tenner doing a filling when you can make thirty quid by going private? It just annoys me that the majority of them have trained and gone to college, all the while being funded by the taxpayer. It just seems that they should be obligated to keep a certain percentage of NHS patients.
