NHS; Rest in Peace!?

The Con-dems had no mandate to change the NHS!

Daily Mirror says NHS Killed by the Coalition!

Daily Mirror put "NHS gravestone" on front page | Political Scrapbook

Does anyone here really know what the NHS Reform Bill is actually going to change?

Well for a start they are going to abolish the NHS Primary Care Trusts (PCT's) and the Strategic Health Authorities (SHA's) and that will free up £60 to £80 Billion of health care funds that will then be given to the new "Clinical commissioning groups" which will be partly run by GP's which means they'll have more work to do!

I am wondering how long it will take to set up this new system and if this will mean there will be a period of dysfunction in that it won't run smooth for a period of time - how can it?

If I go to my GP's tommorrow they will be able to refer me to any medical service they think I need and within a couple of months I'll get an appointment for something that is not an emergency! With these changes it is obvious there will be a period of time that won't happen while the new system is put into place! The issue is will patients suffer because of it?

Well people will be watching what happens like hawks and if we don't get the service we have become acustomed to then there will be trouble and it will probably by the Lib Dems that get trounced! :hidewall:

The NHS is a shambles tbh .. take this article for example , absolutely shocking!

Woman died after Muslim nurse refused to help as he was praying - Telegraph

The demise of the NHS is not a big issue.. the demise of the benches in front of the town hall is much more important.;)

There's a song about the benches ain't there :D

If I had a bench
I'd sit there in the morning
I'd sit there in the evening
All over this land
I'd sit without danger
I'd sit out without a warning
I'd sit there with the love between the druggies and the drunkards all over Accrington
oooooower

The reality is that the taxes and national insurance we all pay can now be placed into private companies..that is not the reason the NHS was set up for.. but the Tories have always hated the NHS...this Tory government will sleep well in their beds knowing they have put the health of this country back to the 1930's and achieved the Tory holy Grail :D

Re: NHS; Rest in Peace!?

This subject was debated on Thursday night at Full Council and a motion passed to write to the government to consider amending the act. However, the local Conservatives had walked out by this point and took no part in the discussion.

Having had several major operations in the past two years on the NHS I fear for the future of the health service. I certainly couldn't have continued working if I hadn't had the surgery, therefore taking more out of the system in benefits and paying much less back into it in tax.

I simply couldn't afford to go private, it does concern me that we seem to be moving towards the American system.

Maybe if we didn't have to treat free of charge all the people that have never paid a penny into the NHS, that were admitted to this country on the last governments open door policy them maybe things would be better, if you go on holiday or even if you emigrate to another country try getting free health care without insurance, its only here in good old Great Britain that we have the everybody welcome free of charge written on hospital doors

The disappearing benches 'experiment', removed because drunks acted the goat near them, used to be sited outside the Market Hall.

We have had an open door since 1945, no one Government is to blame, they are as bad as each other.
Though non perhaps as bad as the 'rivers of blood', chappie, he widened the door then complained about it afterwards.

Easily solved then, lock the inner door so they dp a complete revolution and end up where they came from.

It's time our Country stopped relying on foreign imports, invested in proper jobs, (not mamby pamby University degrees), for the school leavers, we could do well with home grown 'skilled', workers.

Invest in jobs, not benefits should be the National cry!

We could start with a few autobhanns and move on from there, what the hey let's get our plumbers trained with a parachute we could invade Poland!

We had no problem at all getting our daughter seen at the local hospital when we were in Tenerife. She was seen quicker than if we had been at home and taken her to Blackburn. It did not cost us anything either because we had our free European health insurance cards with us.

I think you'll find you've paid many times over, via tax, which winds it's way into the European Union's coffers.

I did actually say if you weren't insured, which you are if you have any sense, but people walk into this country no insurance no nothing and get the same treatment as British citizens, and don't pay a penny, you may think that's right but I certainly don't, and as I said before you go uninsured anywhere and you'd better have your credit card handy, cuz you'll need it

We did not need to use our holiday insurance as we had our EU medical cards.

It took 3 1/2 hours at A&E in Blackburn tonight to see if the lad had broken his wrist. After all that time they were not sure and said a radiographer will look at it during the week.

Oh yes we have a superb system at the moment

Now come on you are in breach of the untold rules on here laid down by Garinda and his slobbering dog Jaysay..most people know that health care is given in any country within the EU.( unless you live in the same bubble as the above mentioned). the myth that we British pay for everything in Europe and get nothing is rubbish.
I'm not pro -EU but do at least look and the in's and out of the UK being a member... maybe we should leave the union, but to involve our fantastic NHS in a debate about the EU is pathetic.

Oh I'm fully self-sufficent, in that department.

No need for anyone else.

Totally free.

Which is probably why I've never been a member of any political party.

Blinds you to reality.

Must be very restrictive.

Being a true blue, or red.

Though even worse, would be having to brown-nose whoever was in power.

That must be a very challenging skill, to pull of successfully, especially when who has that power changes.

A little like whoring.

No, I think I'll stay free from all binding ties, unencumbered by loyalty to anyone, and therefore freed to speak my own mind.

Aren't you allowed pets, in your secured ward?

That's a shame.

Can't remember you being such a bitter li'l babba, when I've been super critical of the Tories in the past, on here.

I'll just carry on regardless.

Being super critical, of the jumbled, centralist mess, that is both New Labour, and the Tory Lites.

Perhaps if you save a few crumbs, you could try and tame a little birdie.

Then you wouldn't feel so isolated.

Looks like the NHS will have to pick up the tab for improper breast implants performed by private companies..I do think it is right for these unfortunate people who have been refused by the private sector to have the operation reversed by the NHS.. but now that private health companies are to be given up to 50% of taxpayers resources will we have to bail them out many more times in future? I fear so.

You should do.

The ward's right next to the drying-out clinic.

How's it going, by the way?

It's very nice of them, to keep having you back in.

You know a li'l troll?

That's nice.

I should imagine it's nice for you, to have at least one friend.

I hope you'll both be very happy.

Are you planning to marry, and adopt baby trolls, you can send out looting, and rioting?

Is that because you're still drinking so much, that you can't remember keep going in there?

Still, as said earlier, good old N.H.S.

For at least trying.

Quote from Wrighty's attachment-' Mrs. Blair founded the Allele Fund in 2008 with Gail Lese, a doctor and fund manager, with the aim of investing in health care and technology companies'.
So even while her husband, the protector of the NHS, was Prime Minister she was getting on the bandwagon!
You've been betrayed, c'mon.
I can't say I'm surprised at what she was up to( wonder if her husband knew?).

Do you know who owns ones medical records? The NHS do! But with these new companies oursourcing like Virgin, then surely the medical records belong to them! That means a private company owns your medical records! Opening the way to your information being sold on! A potential data protection nightmare!

From Hansard, November 1976:
Personal medical records, including X-rays, in respect of patients treated under the NHS are held to be the property of the Secretary of State. NHS hospital medical records are stored in premises designated by the appropriate health authority. Access to a patient's medical records is governed in the patient's interest by the ethics of the medical and allied professions.

I am not happy about companies like Virgin having a hand in the NHS but if they do they must be allowed access to patient care records. There are data protection guidelines governing this as well as access by researchers and others. See the Care Records Guarantee:
