Consumption won't go up.

It's more likely people will drive less, if there's a threat of a strike.

The government gets exactly the same duty.

Just a little earlier than they would have.

Thanks to the panic buyers.

I don't quite get this.......there hasn't been any strike announced yet....only the possibility of one. The Army are being trained up to drive the tankers(just in case) and all this panic has been caused by the government.....who must now be rubbing their hands at the extra revenue they will get from this surge in buying.

Are motorists just daft or what?

Stopped driving, and traded my car in, just at the right time.

Be fine.

Just as long as the Sedan Carriers Union don't join the strike.

It's not something I've heard of to be honest but the only thing we tend to use during winter is the chainsaw, the blower and the hedge cutter so one 2-stroke petrol can tends to be enough at any one time instead of the seven or eight we usually have on the go with the fleet in summer. All the tools get serviced during winter so to be honest it is a good opportunity for us to run down stocks of everything and buy fresh supplies in February when we start up again.

Fortunately, I had just filled all our cans on Tuesday ahead of this little announcement but if there really does end up being a fuel shortage we'll be pretty knackered in terms of garden maintenance as everything runs on petrol.

The government's timing just doesn't smell right on this one, I'm afraid.

AMSOIL - Gasoline Stabilizer (AST)

There are lots of brands ... but they all do the same thing. All the hardware stores stock it.

Both the government, for creating the scare, and the panic buyers are daft, for listening to them.

Some people easily fall into siege mentality.

I won't tell you what some people were prepared to do for six oven bottoms, when there was rumour of a flour shortage in the seventies.

How long have you been doing that?

Have you two collar studs, and a pair of silver shoe buckles?

I'll pay next time you're up.

For years, on and off (literally).

Anyway, these days I use a Boris - it saves getting your bike pinched.

Have you seen that TV programme 'Sons of Anarchy'?

I do a variation - "'Sons of Accy - London branch'."

No, my Grandad was very fair.

I think you're thinking of Mrs. Miggin's pie shop, down Church.

I think they did.

We empty all our fuel containers in November and don't refill them over the winter season because our gardening machinery runs abysmally if we use petrol that is even a few months old.

The fuel companies must be laughing all the way to the bank this week.

Not to mention the government who will be raking in millions in tax to fund their exorbitant lifestyles.

Well. one good thing - if people are going to have to walk some more rather than use thier car or the local cab firm - then hopefully the obscene levels of local obesity and the subsequent cost on the NHS may well drop.
