Talking Rubbish
There is 6 people living in my house 2 adults 4 children, our wheelie bin is wheelie good, but not big enough. The binmen due i thought i'd help them out and take dusty bin to the end of the drive. 10 mins later we found we had another binbag so i took it to the bin, the bin was full so i used my initiative tried to pack it but the lid was a bit high. the green machine arrived with the boys one took the top bag out chucked it on the floor and they escaped before i could find my shoes. That was yesterday i had chilled out today then a blue sack came through the letterbox to had to my collection.

Re: Talking Rubbish
You have my sympathy bob. There's only 3-4 of us and a cat and we overflow our bin sometimes. Have you ever tried taking some yourself up to Whinney Hill? That's even more fun.

Re: Talking Rubbish

Re: Talking Rubbish
I believe you can ring the council and supersize your wheelie bin - but they do threaten to send someone round to have a look through your bin bags to make sure that you are not putting re-cycleable waste in your black bags!

Re: Talking Rubbish
How does a supersized wheelie bin fit onto the bin wagon for tipping in?

Apparently, it is now illegal to put excess rubbish next to your wheely bin, but these photo's were taken just two weeks ago near the back of my house. (I apologise for the lack of clarity in one of the photo's, old age has given me a shaking hand)
The refuse collecters refused (well I see the pun even if no one else notices) to take the desk but the over-full wheelie bin contents were accepted......and in the other photo where the rubbish over-spilled into the lane, they HAD to pick it up as they couldn't otherwise have got their motor down!! Must be someone important living down my road:rolleyes: |
Re: Talking Rubbish
yea well they took my 3 extra bags this week, must be the way you smile at them eh?
|
Re: Talking Rubbish
Keep smiling at them Mez and don't forget the Christmas tip because it was reported recently in the local rag that a woman was fined for putting just one extra bag out by her bin and she got fined!
She obviously didn't have the right smile :D |
Re: Talking Rubbish
I think my answer is going to be if I have any extra rubbish take it round to Busman's as they obviously take all sorts from that street.

Re: Talking Rubbish
There's no need for anyone to worry about their rubbish any more. This is from tonight's telegraph:
'We're guilty of gobbledegook!' WANTED: Neighbourhood Pride Motivator - or in plain English, a recycling worker. Hyndburn Council was today accused of joining the long-line of organisations guilty of using technical 'gobbledegook' after advertising the environmental post without mentioning rubbish or recycling in the job title. " According to adverts the role, which commands a salary of £18,537-£19,766, requires a 'highly motivated individual, fluent in Urdu', to 'raise awareness and provide information of waste management, recycling and waste collection services'. Meanwhile, from yesterdays Observer: "HYNDBURN’S pioneering neighbourhood wardens face the axe because of a funding crisis. Six of the 12 wardens – who have done vital work in the borough’s most run-down areas – will get the chop next March, with the rest following a year later. The bombshell news was revealed this week after the council confessed it could not find enough cash to keep paying them." So we can get rid of the wardens, who are on I believe £13,000 each, yet apoint an urdu speaking Neighbour Pride Motivator, on up to £20,000. Does anyone else have a suspicion that something is not quite right here? |
Re: Talking Rubbish
Yep. ......... Why can't they appoint a cleaner-upper just to get rid of the muck?

Re: Talking Rubbish
Like a good citizen i put my blue box, blue bag and my white bag out this morning for collection. Which was collected along with the contents inside them. Now i am minus box and bags, have rung the council and they said they will try and deliver me some more. Wonder how long i will have to wait?

Re: Talking Rubbish
When I first moved to Accy, I went round to the council depot to get a blue recycling container. "No problem" said the lady and promply got me my container.
"What about a lid" I enquired.......she went quiet for a couple of seconds and then produced a lid from under the counter. "Don't tell anyone" she asked, "or everybody will want one!" Now it happened that Willow was sitting in my car at the time and within 30 seconds was in the office demanding a lid for her container as well......Oh well, some secrets are meant to be told! ;) |
Re: Talking Rubbish
*LOL*
maybe the trick is to leave the extra bags in the middle of the st so the dustbin men cant get past wihtout pickin them up... thankfully we have 4 of these pesky bins (4 houses 3 of which we own...) so we never run out but sometimes when ur havin guests or doin a mass clean out its not possible to fit it all in. i feel sorry for the larger families with the one bin... i've been trying to get the council to pick up an old carpet for the past 6 weeks - i got told within 14 days 6 weeks ago then i went to dubai for 4 weeks and came back and it was still there... |
