David Gauke MP
Can this wretched Government sink any lower?
Treasury David Gauke Minister brands people who pay cash to builders and cleaners 'immoral' because they are encouraging the non declaration of tax. Mr Gauke, Conservative MP for South West Hertfordshire, was happy to accept payments from the taxes that HAVE been declared totalling £10,248.32 towards mortgage payments on his second home, including £8,550 in stamp duty when he moved house. His main home is in Chorleywood, Hertfordshire, which is in easy commuting distance of Westminster. And a lawyer by profession, Mr Gauke worked for several years at McFarlanes, a tax advisory firm that boasts about its 'particular expertise' in producing 'tax efficient' solutions for big businesses. ie it tells them how to dodge paying tax. You couldn't make it up, could you! |
Re: David Gauke MP
He has some nerve telling us about what is morally right...politicians and morals do not sit well together do they?
My elderly mother pays any tradesman she employs to jobs for her, in cash. This is because she does not have a cheque book or a curent account. It is not up to her(or any of us for that matter) to act as a tax collector/snitch when the HMRC cannot get its act together. It is time they got off their behinds and started chasing the real tax evaders.....big business, the BBC and MP's. While they evade their responsibilities, it means that those of us who are in PAYE schemes will pay more of the burden, because the taxman gets first hold on the money. Hypocrite with a capital H is what David Gauke is |
Re: David Gauke MP

Re: David Gauke MP
MP's arnt answerable to us anymore and are merely there to serve their self interests with the occasional good deed thrown our way to appease the voters usually around elction time.

Re: David Gauke MP
Classic political techniques designed to deflect attention from the fact that the government aren't getting to grips with the big companies and individuals (including party donors) who exploit the loopholes in the law to avoid paying their fair share of tax like the rest of us.

MP Graham Jones in cash-in-hand tax dodge rap in wake of Jimmy Carr offshore furore (From Lancashire Telegraph) Hmmm..does that make David Gauke a closet socialist or is Graham Jones a closet tory.. |
Re: David Gauke MP
neither...they are both hypocrites of the first order...think only of themselves and what they can screw the tax payer for...while dodging their own tax bill in whatever(legal - but not moral) way they can....and yet they can get up on their high horse and condemn people who are trying to make ends meet...not amass great wealth.

I don't know enough about Graham Jones's tax affairs to give an opinion as to whether he is as hypocritical as Gauke, but as an MP he's probably blighted by his colleagues. |
