Traffic Cops - programmes

OK, just watched because I REALLY can't be bothered with the Olympics a Traffic Cop style programme. It featured a set of plod from South Yorkshire round Sheffield.

bloke 1, illegal immigrant - no english, captured but released on bail, to be deported but since gone missing never mind his 4 mates in the car that weren't checked according o the programme.

bloke 2, driving a lorry with bald tyres, 6 years out of date tax, no operator license - fined 25!!!!! quid. Sorry, even a basic half decent car tyre is 4x that never mind a truck ( 7.5 tonne) one

bloke 3, overtaking over double white lines on 3rd most dangerous road in country whilst flashing headlights at other drivers etc - find 60 quid and 3 points

lad on stolen moped in known dodgy estate - never found

16 year old in stolen car dropping mates off at the local prison to see inmates, banned from driving - ERR he doesn't have a license now so like thats going to stop him!

Now come on, who in South Yorks police thought the programme did anything but made them look like complete and utter fools and effectively advertise to any illegals and dodgy characters that what the hell, you can get away with anything here....

Not one case resulted in a half decent conviction or result...

Please tell me I'm not being soft here

IMHO,

illegals - don't release on bail, they will run away, fast track process with agreements with airlines for free flights out of here to relevant places )

dodgy tyres/no operator licenses/no tax etc - big fines for combined offences ( as in 60 quid for one but the second and 3rd attract MUCH bigger fines) once is careless, twice stupid, 3 times deliberate....

Putting other drivers at risk... dangerous driving.... simples i spend too long on motorways to consider what might happen to me because some idiot thinks he can save 2 minutes

youngsters with no respect for law, pop them in a Indian jail for 3 months ( outsourcing at its very best IMHO!) I bet the indian gov would take them at a very much reduced cost to what we pay to keep them in the UK..... ( I bet they come back thinking they don't want to go through that again)

Shall I stand against Graham at the next election? :D come on who'd vote for me!!!! I promise to canvass opinion of AW on all parliamentary votes! apply common sense to decisions and employ Cyfr(sorry, AndrewB :D ) as my researcher!

( and I promise I wont make Linux compulsory! yet!)

:D:D:D

Holy feces ... those fines are a joke ... the guy who did the aggressive driving thing: if he did that in Ontario, his vehicle would have been impounded and, upon conviction, his licence would have been suspended for a year. And his insurance would go through the roof. Not to mention the fine that the judge would impose at his discretion.

I also watched the same programme and the outcomes were laughable (when I was younger i did some questionable things and im still regretting and paying for my mistakes now) the punishments now are no longer a deterrent.

I've been saying it for years its time to have a bonfire in Parliament Square with our legal system and start from scratch with a new law system that's fit for purpose, but first we'd have to get rid of the stupid human rights laws, which would be a start:mad:

if you want a proper laugh check out the cases before the bench in the accy observer, if you are white and working you get pasted, if your other you get away with paltry fines etc etc, check em out on friday. It seems these days that 34 in a 30 zone is worse than no mot , no tax and no insurance

Seeing we are having a 'off topic' moment, I have not seen that or any TV for the last 3 week and won't until I am back in Blighty, seeing I am working, apparently!

Ian, I will vote for you, and I will canvass and help in anyway to get you elected. It is about time we had some common sense round here
