Big Wheel
2 Attachment(s)
Hi, been to Manchester today and wow! You should see the size of the big wheel that has been brought over from Paris. Its behind what used to be the main entrance to Marks and Spencers - behind the cathedral, around The Works area of town. You must go and take a look at it!

Re: Big Wheel
Looks huge... I will be going Christmas shopping next week in Manchester. How long will it be there for, does anyone know?

Wheel
An observation wheel towering 60m (196ft) above Manchester opens to the public on Friday 29th Oct 2004
The 42-carriage wheel, similar to the London Eye, has been built in Exchange Square for tourists and shoppers in the run-up to Christmas. Twenty-four lorries helped bring in the construction, and it has been erected piece by piece over the past few weeks. The attraction was in Paris for two years and features a "VIP gondola", designed for President Jacques Chirac. The special carriage comes complete with leather seats, carpets, a fridge and telephone. The 60m-high wheel, which is lit by 51,000 light bulbs, will tower above the city's Urbis museum, offering views for miles. A ride on the wheel, which is open to the public until February, will last about 10 minutes. There you go, how about that :) |
Re: Big Wheel
Thanks Atarah, I may just have to have a ride on it.

Re: Big Wheel
Now something like that would really get things cooking in the town centre.

Re: Big Wheel
Yea, it would be a great vantage point to pick off the town centre yobs with a Winchester or similar. Good target practice.

I have also touched them up a little. ;) |
Re: Big Wheel
That is rather large for Manchester. Maybe we'll get chance to see it before it departs. I had 2 reasons to head in a Manchester direction in November, now I've got 3.
