Bad Drivers In Bad Weather
1 Attachment(s)
I have seen a few idiots driving over the last few days of snow and ice. Yesterday at 8.30am on my way to Asda a Transit flat back overtook cars in the queue at the Church Commercial lights. He drove down the wrong side of the road past the railway station in Ossy/Church, under the railway bridge and forced his way back into the queue.
This morning while sat in the middle lane at the lights at the bottom of Dill Hall lane coming from Ossy, another Transit flat back, could have been the same one, drove up the empty right hand lane and cut in front of the car sat at the red light in the middle lane. He was sat in the middle of the junction and just set off up Dill Hall Lane when the lights changed. Again this morning just pat St Mary's School an idiot reversed out of a drive, across the road and started to go up another drive. I thought she was reversing up her drive but no, she was using it to turn her car and set off towards Rhyddings Street. A stupid move and she should obviously reverse up her drive. I was behind her and could not believe her windscreen, it looked like she have scraped her nails down the ice, a few stripes each an inch wide to look through. I followed her down Rhyddings Street and took a picture while stopped for a couple of minutes in the traffic - stupid of me? maybe but we were stopped that long my handbrake was on. By the time I could safely take a picture her windscreen had started to clear, wish I could have got it at first it was unbelievable. Sorry its out of focus, my phone focussed on the wiggly lines of my heated windscreen. http://www.accringtonweb.com/forum/a...1&d=1358936000 |
Re: Bad Drivers In Bad Weather
Just love it if there happens to be a copper knocking about when that happens. I can remember years ago when I worked at shopfitters, we were on our way back from Dover on the duel carriageway, and the traffic was funnelled into one lane and an inevitable snarl up , we were sat there for ages when a car sailed down the coned of lane and just kept going, so you can imagine the smiles from fellow drives when we got a few miles down the road and the police were holding this clown and wouldn't let him carry on, Just love it when that happens

Re: Bad Drivers In Bad Weather
I agree-It is never the actual snow/ice that scares me when driving, it's the idiots who don't know how to drive in it!
|
Re: Bad Drivers In Bad Weather
I had the rare occasion to pop into ASDA yesterday, on leaving n returning to my car n idiot woman wi 2 kids n elderly mam (i assume she was) pulled out of carpark directly in front of a taxi. which fortunately wasn't tear arsing, the taxi driver had to stop dead, the stupid cow seemed to be nattering to mummy who was sat on back seat wi kids,

Re: Bad Drivers In Bad Weather
I was driving near St Mary's school and saw some weirdo taking a picture of the car in front's back window... :D

Re: Bad Drivers In Bad Weather
as a rule of thumb in bad weather like we have now if your driving around with a thick layer of snow on your car roof then consider yourself an arsehole and a danger to everyone else.
its a poor do when police have to go on the radio begging for people to show some level of intelligence and clean off their cars before setting off im not going to say where iv seen them but i have seen police laying in wait for such people and pulling them over |

Re: Bad Drivers In Bad Weather
What a stupid thing to do, for the sake of a few minutes to clear her windscreen, this woman is not only risking her insurance being null and void, if she were to have a accident, but more seriously if a child was to step out into the road she wouldnt see them, and the consequences could be tragic. If it was upto me anyone caught driving like this would have an instant ban and a hefty fine to boot.
|
Re: Bad Drivers In Bad Weather
Someone I know did get stopped on Monday and given a £40 spot fine for not clearing the snow off the roof of the car. So they will stop you.

I'm always careful of BMW drivers whatever the weather, they seem to suffer from a collective madness. Has anyone else noticed that? |
Re: Bad Drivers In Bad Weather
Bad drivers are with us no matter what the weather, at least if you take care and clear your car before setting off, you can spot and avoid the idiots easier when they drive with frost covered windows and you can give them a wide birth, rather than when it's summer and you just have to assume the driver coming towards you is an idiot.
|
Re: Bad Drivers In Bad Weather
I don't think the weather has much to do with it. Bad drivers are bad whatever the weather and the road conditions ...
It's -25 here right now ... warmed up quite a bit since last nite:D ... some blowing snow ... I think I'll head out to the liquor store for a large bottle of rum:dancedog: ... maybe check out and see how folks are driving.;) |
Re: Bad Drivers In Bad Weather
Ref No.11 thread by Gordon(BMW's)You'd think that with the cost of a BMW they would be fitted with indicators

Its funny the difference in reception I get in my car and Mrs BG's car which is a rather large and fast Volvo Estate (the same model the traffic cops use to catch you speeding) I get let out of junctions, smiled at and not cut up ever, something that happens all the time in my car. Oh and Big Dave, I have indicators and use them, something many many owners of other makes don't do |
Re: Bad Drivers In Bad Weather
if you are not to drive with snow on your roof does this mean people with grey hair should shave their heads before driving ?

I must admit, lovely to drive, in the 3 series you feel more part of the machine(like on a motorbike). |

My Mother has a BMW-I know zilch about cars so couldn't tell you what kind other than it's got two doors, is quite 'flat' and is black. I drive it whenever we're together as she hates driving and I don't mind, so she asks me to-but, I don't like it!It reminds me of a dentist's chair the way it has weird nooks and crannies in the seat, and the gearstick's in a weird place. It freaks me out when it switches itself off when you stop, as well! She probably fits the stereotype of BMW drivers I hate to say although I'm sure you don't, BG! Back on topic-I drove to Bolton and back twice last weekend and the roads were okay. I was looking out for black ice but didn't have to be overly careful. The only thing that did cause me slight panic was people stopping very suddenly in front of me, happened at least twice, and everybody seems to lurk in the middle lane on the motorway for some reason?!Then again that's a normal occurrence I suppose. |
Re: Bad Drivers In Bad Weather
Sounds like a Coupe, similar to what I have.
To be fair I do enjoy driving and a BMW allows to to drive, they handle rather well. So while I try not to drive like a c:eek::eek: i may do now and then:D According to Top Gear all the idiots are now in Audi's:D:D |

I don't blame you, I have banned myself from listening to heavy metal from driving because that tends to make me drive 'Like a c:eek::eek: ' :) |

My wife always had small cars- driving them used to terrify me, you were getting beat up and cut up all the time. She said it was even worse when she drove on her own. That's why I like my nice big 4X4- any BMWs get in my way I can just drive straight over them(especially the coupes, they're easy). |
Re: Bad Drivers In Bad Weather
Having survived riding motorcycles for 40 years I treat all other rode users as idiots and they are out to get me. I can change my opinion of them was they are out of the way. Works for me!!!:D:D:D

Re: Bad Drivers In Bad Weather
i dont know about anywhere else but hyndburn in general is not somehwere you should assume a green light means go if you want to live very long
the amount of red light jumping is staggering and its all on video but cant be used to prosecute the guilty.I have no idea why not as a camera can take a photo and get you 3 points and a fine then shouldnt actual video footage be usable ? |

A bit of friendly banter and you treat me like some sort of deviant, anyone would think you're sense of humour was removed during the time you spent at H.M.'S pleasure. I know better, after all you've started a new life in a land that loves children, so you can't be all bad. Buddy(ist). |
Re: Bad Drivers In Bad Weather
well when someone says "with any luck they will get you next time" i find it offensive, and yes i was very lucky if i had not been wearing a helmet, then maybe my son and daughter would have lost their dad,and perhaps that would have made you feel happier,i wish you a long life and may buddah bless you and keep you safe.

Less and shurm, i cant be arsed even replying to your stupid posts apart from the fact that i find them so funny when you put all this crap on here, and if you ever read my court report i think you will find that i pleaded guilty and accepted my guilt and as you will find out i have never been barred from working with children so if i want to go and work in a secondary school there is nothing you can do about it,as it is i am happily retired and living on my inheritance and having a great time with all these lovely thai females over her, so i leave you wollowing in your sess pit of hate and bile.Remember there are skeletons in your closets as well

Having been several times to Bangkok Chiva-som is a very nice spa and of course the Shangri-la spa in Phuket is rather nice as well. However I would not want to live there, I prefer to live in a country where getting diseases such as, dengue fever, Japanese encephalitis, and malaria are not high. Of course Thailand does not have the waste of money the NHS is, still health isn't everything. |

Re: Bad Drivers In Bad Weather
I encountered a bad driver the other night. The roads were really quite bad, and I was coming onto a roundabout where the left-hand lane (left hand turn only) was thick of snow, the middle and right hand ones were bad, but not AS bad-that route's just busier. I was driving in this snow, very slowly and carefully and some moron who obviously had zero patience, decided that instead of staying behind me where he was, it would be better to go into the middle lane and then overtake me! So I'm driving, trying to not skid , and all of a sudden there's a car right next to me, in the wrong lane, trying to get past.... What an IDIOT. What bothered me more was he had a child in the passenger seat, and I was being very careful but with the conditions and him being far too close as well as in the wrong lane already, I could have quite easily skidded into him, or he could have into me. For the sake of a few moments time..... Rant over, as you were! :)

By the way, it's a nasty little day we are having in K'town. A warm front moved in and brought lots of snow mixed with freezing rain. Traffic moving more or less normaly; drivers slowing down and leaving more room between them and the car in front. Pizza delivery times ... add five minutes;) City plows are out, probably all 25 of them, doing their ususal fine job. Real snow plows ... big mothers.:D As it says on the city web site: "When it starts to snow, plows start to go":theband: City of Kingston, Ontario, Canada - Snow Removal on Streets and Sidewalks |

I'm not going to argue with that one!I guess there's always bad drivers-just consequences are more likely when conditions are bad so it makes it seem worse!

Re: Bad Drivers In Bad Weather
I was taking a friend back up Broadfield on Friday evening and as we went up Feilden lane there were a couple of kids stood in the road trying to stop cars.
In the park area by the road side were more kids and when cars stopped they were throwing snowballs at them. We stopped to have a go at the kids but they ran off, I got going again OK (new 4X4 first time in snow) but when I came back down there were three cars sideways on across the road, really stuck. There was a gritter coming down behind me so I nipped to the right and down Hawthorne avenue out of the way. |
Re: Bad Drivers In Bad Weather
at the lights at dill hall service station leading up dill hall the 3rd lane to turn right towards kfc is often used to go straight on in an attempt to get past the car in the correct lane who shouldnt have to worry about what the car to their right is up to.
needless to say the last idiot that tried it with me severly underestimated my car and nearly ended up eating traffic island after performing an emergency stop |
Re: Bad Drivers In Bad Weather
Nice one :D
The other week I was coming down to those lights to turn right on Dunkenhalgh Way and a massive lorry was coming up in the inside lane at speed, good job I didn't turn ....... He went straight up Dill Hall !!! |
Re: Bad Drivers In Bad Weather
articulated lorrys jump red lights all the time at dill hall and whitebirk as well as cars but the county council refuse to do a damn thing about it .I guess when enough people get killed to reach the required target of deaths something will be done but i would have thought prevention would be preferable.
lancashire county councils standpoint is that traffic light cameras arnt used and were removed from places that had them like in preston because the person following the offender through the red light may collide with the offending car if the offending car slams on because of teh camera flash. They refused to explain why it should matter as teh second car was been even more wreckless by following a car that has already jumped a red light the only person out of the many i rang that showed any interest was ken moss who isnt really in any position to deal with it as it is a county council issue not local council. He did find out that they have extended the time traffic lights stay on green at dill hall to keep traffic flowing but folk still jump red lights. traffic law is a joke in this country you can put any wrek on the road, park anywhere you like such as zig zags, jump red lights and be pretty sure you wont get nicked unless you happen to be doing 3 mph over 30mph going past a grey pole with a yellow box |

Incidentally - drove the kid to school this morning 20mins earlier than usual (I'd normally be setting off now). Four incidents, again, but they were all people pulling out into the traffic without due consideration. One bloke pulled out behind me and almost managed to crash into two cars going in opposite directions! |
