Re: Roads
Pretty bad I'd imagine reading the papers & watching the news, mind you UK isn't really geared to heavyish snowfalls & it's a national emergency when you get more than an inch of it over the Winter. :)
The fact that they might have learnt something over the last few years what with the weather being particularly "iffy" doesn't seem to have been the case. This, depending on your viewpoint is either the fault of The Tories - 13 years of Labour - The EU - ConDems coalition, take your pick ! :D |
Re: Roads
My husband works for a delivery firm. He had to dig his van out at 5am this morning and finally arrived in work at around 6.30am. At 7am they all got sent home, said it was to dangerous to make deliveries. So would say pretty bad.

Re: Roads
Put it this way,in my view only a knobhead will drive in this, unless absolutely essential.

Re: Roads
There was a couple of young knobheads as Cashy calls them tearing round the roundabout at the top of our street last night to see if they could skid. They did, their car went sideways and almost hit one of our neighbour's car.

What a disappointment knowing Jay's spelling and the fact he's a devout Catholic, I thought he was taking a trip to get cured.

Bearing in mind you lot could be hundreds of miles from the nearest emergency serices... Over here..we get 'we've run out of grit again guys, for gods sake don't go out unless you have to'....and chances are we are no more than 10 miles from emergency help :D |

Re: Roads
I recall that winter of '63
UK weather: Winter of 1963 was so cold the sea froze - Mirror Online My main memory of it is that the snow that fell at the start stayed around so long that it got mucky and and turned to thick dark ice. I don't recall missing going to work - if buses stopped running you were expected to walk to work. |
