asda petrol

as anyone noticed if you put a tenner in your car your bank takes a tenner but if you look at your balance it will say for example £195.00 balance but £194.00 available its as though either asda charges you a pound for using it or your bank does

nope that isn't what happens...initially you are charged just a pound and then maybe later that day or even the next day the full price for your petrol is taken.
(I think I have got that right) If you are indoubt I'm sure the customer service desk will be able to put you right

It's to check the card is valid, you will only see it online if you check straight away.

Thanks Dave...you explained it better than me.

Re: asda petrol

I noticed that - it displays the £1 under 'pending transactions' and it never shows that £1 as an actual transaction.

Re: asda petrol

yep a few people get caught out by asda's pumps as the bank puts teh transaction as £1 so your available balance shows more than you really have for a few days with some banks

where as if you use chip and pin the amount is taken from your available balance asda petrol pums dont so you can accidently spend money you dont really have which puts you overdrawn when the full amount goes through

thats roughly how hsbc explained it to me when i went in to see what the problem with my account was
