This is just wrong

Olympic Games - Osborne offers tax break to lure Bolt to London - Yahoo! Eurosport UK

Reading this makes me so angry, and just typifies this government. As much as I admire Usain Bolt for being a great athlete, anybody who earns money in this country, should be taxed accordingly, not let off.If anybody should be entitled to tax free earnings its our troops in afghanistan, risking their lives everyday for this country.

It seemed to me that Bolt's whole demeanour in the Olympics was smug & 'big-headed'. I suppose he's got something to be big-headed about, but other gold medallist showed much more humility. I don't think he should be let off paying his dues.

this government will probbably take him to lunch atteh tax payers expense to give him the news he wont be paying tax.A bit like how they take big companies to lunch at our expense to beg for tax owed
.
if a big company isnt paying its tax or owes tax it can easily pay they shoudl be goven 30 days to settle in full or the top man be imprissoned until he or she pays like they do with council tax

Reading the article it appears he would be taxed on what he made here and what he made globally for this tax year under current UK rules so he'd end up paying a bomb!

Osbournes concession might be to only tax him(but still tax him) on what he earned here but I can't find any more detail.

Still, rules should be for all of us. If he doesn't want to play by them don't come.

Got to agree dave, its fine when you have the god give ability to succeed like bolt but he does come across as the big I am, whereas Carl Lewis was just the opposite, everybody coming to live and "work" here should pay the just dues like the rest of us
