Dill Hall Lane Traffic Lights

At long last, after years of traffic backing up dill hall lane, waiting to turn onto Dunk. Way, they`ve now put a stagger on the lights.:wave8:

all they need to do now is teach people mainly taxi drivers with kids as passengers on their way home from school to stop at red

The only time those lights were any good is when they weren't working and traffic was allowed to flow naturally, very rarely was there a snare up

I go through those lights every morning on way to work and at half eight they are a nightmare, doesn`t help when drivers don`t know the highway code and won`t go into the yellow cross hatch marks, ends up only one car gets to turn right.
Hopefully it will be better now, find out next week.

Correct :D

Box junctions. These have criss-cross yellow lines painted on the road (see 'Road markings'). You MUST NOT enter the box until your exit road or lane is clear. However, you may enter the box and wait when you want to turn right, and are only stopped from doing so by oncoming traffic, or by other vehicles waiting to turn right. At signalled roundabouts you MUST NOT enter the box unless you can cross over it completely without stopping.

Someone once went to the trouble of printing that, laminating it and fastening it to the traffic lights, for some reason they were removed.

As muich as I would like to blame taxi drivers, they are the last ones to blame, they just shoot off and don`t care whether they cut someone up.

No, someone on a motorbike was quite badly hurt, wasn`t near the lights and I don`t know how bad. It was at the junction where dill hall lane used to go down to petrol station but is now a dead-end.

A filter on the lights coming up Henry St turning right into Hyndburn Rd could be useful too. I've sat in a queue there many a rush hour!

Always thought it would be better with a roundabout there, with traffic signals at peak times.

Could you design us a Practical roundabout that would fit into the existing space?

The traffic lights could be added a couple of years later thus hiding the extra expense.
:)

No point in a roundabout as most seem not to know what to do when they get there. Seems to be iv'e got a better car than you so i have priority these days.

at whitebirk anything from moorbikes to articulated waggons jump the red lights.Me and my son were nearly wiped out by a waggon and escaped death by a mere whisper .

i wish i could say it was a rare occurance but at every change of teh lights at least 3 cars or more jump red yet lancashire county council refuse to install red light cameras that will punish these morons.

before they will consider it a cetrain amount of people have to die

Are we allowed to decide who to kill so they will install the cameras?

A bit of a wander off the thread, but I have just visited the place where I was born at the bottom of Dill Hall Lane.In the old days I would come down Henry Street then up the hill past my birth place and on up to Clayton. I was completely disorientated by these traffic lights.Where was Gatty Park? Where was Steiners? Can we please have Church back as it used to be?

Re: Dill Hall Lane Traffic Lights

To get to Gatty Park from Henry street, you turn right at the lights towards town, through some more lights at KFC and it is on your left, don`t know what/where Steiners is.

The red lines on the map are where the old road used to run, with a dead end at manor place. Gatty Park is where the red circle is.

Jim if you look at the Google map coming up Henry St take the turn on the left before the traffic lights and follow the road round up to the small car park. You can then walk to the canal. It is now Emersen/Renwick what used to be Steiners

From ClaytonX`s description, Steiners is where the Green circle is on the attached map.
