Fly catchers

1 Attachment(s)
Got a couple of these about 3 weeks ago, just used one and this is the result in 21 days 1000's of dead flies, once they get in they can't get out, the liquid at the bottom is supposed to emit a pheromone which attracts female flies, just flies, doesn't affect bee's.
Who would suspect that so many blue bottles would visit your backyard in so short a time, only had two of the dirty beggars come in the house since it was activated.
The makers reckon they can catch up to 20,000 fies in 12 weeks

Re: Fly catchers

Do you think you might have caught so many because they are now being drawn to your garden by the fly catcher.
What happens to the flies after they are caught, do they die in there. We`ve had fly papers up for a while, caught quite a few but still loads of the dirty little gits flying around, not as many as you`ve caught though.

All thats black in that bag is dead flies, as I said, once in they can't get out. As to how many come into the garden because of it, one will never know, one thing for sure, there will be 1000's less next year, because dead flies don't breed.

A worrying thought, if they really are that good, will we soon have a charity pleading with us to pay for fly farms to prevent spiders becoming extinct?

Oh, I can imagine the way the advert on afternoon TV begins,

Boris is a spider, he is starving to death, will you help? £2.00 per month will supply Boris with all the flies he needs, or you can adopt him and Boris will send you a newsletter once every six months.

Nope I won't sod them, you don't need fly catchers in the garden out there flies are doing their job.
It's inside the house you need them, why? Not because the fly is a massive threat to your well being, keep food and rubbish covered nowt for them to attack.

It's just that they are SOooo annoying, open a window in come the flies, then, what do they try to do?
get outside again beating their heads against the glass even though the window is still open!
The stupid sods can't remember the way out, they then fly around the room land on us asking for directions but we can't be bothered to show them the way out.
It's our fault, we opened the window, the fly took it as an invite, when it gets bored and wants to leave we should treat our guests with manners, hit them with a newspaper and throw their disintegrated remains out the way they came in.
:)

I have an electric fly bat....it shows them the way out of this world and into the next.
Let them on the other side do the swatting!

Wasn`t knocking it Retlaw, whether it`s a fly that would have been somewhere else doesn`t matter. The only good fly is a dead fly. Don`t want them crawling on my kitchen worktops when they`ve been crawling all over dog crap.

If it stops one fly from getting into the kitchen, and putting its dirty feet on the food preparation surfaces, then its working for me, you can't cover every thing to stop flies contaminating.
Dead flies outside are better, 1000's of dead flies better still. Incy Wincy will have to change his diet in our area.

The only use for spiders is to kill flies, if there are no flies then we don`t need spiders.

I`ve seen what goes into an oxo cube, you`re probably better off with the flies.

Moths are far more spectacular and the entertainment value goes on for much longer.

Keep it to yourself. I enjoy a oxo cube in a cup as a drink, or poured over a pie, brought up on them

I'll join you in that! On toad in the hole as well. Even had a special Oxo cup when I was little, wonder what happened to it?

You have just reminded me of something I used to enjoy as a child, and had completely forgotten about. So at some stage in the not to distant future I will be having a "tater"pie slavered in Oxo

I`m sure it`s changed now and a lot cleaner than it once was.

Memories eh?

Down the Mecca on comes a slow smoochie from the DJ and the lass you end up with still has the scent 'eau de crushed bones' lingering on her person.

That was the factory in Chard, went for an interview down there in the lead up to Gt Harwood closing, boiling crushed up bones, absolutely stunk.

To be fair, some productions follow folk around.
One place I worked used plenty of acid baths. We were given free milk to keep it off our stomachs, would have showers before leaving, fresh work clothes daily, everything including us still stank.
When out and about in town you could smell a fellow worker on hot days before he came around a corner.
It was in your pores.
Thank goodness all I have to disguise now is BO!
