Prince Andrew bailed up by Police
It is reported that Prince Andrew was bailed up by police in the palace grounds and that he was not amused and that the Prince was of the opinion that they should have recognised him, after all he was only having a walk in the graden and was dressed in a suit and tie ( what about socks and shoes).
Perhaps if he had worn a coronet and full regalia they would have recognised him and the incident would not have taken place. Still you could alkways buy fake regalia. What would have happened if they had just let it go and the person had not been who he was and an incident happened whereby some innocent person had been attacked. Prince Andrew should be grateful that some people take their jobs seriously. |
Re: Prince Andrew bailed up by Police
Is 'bailed' an Aussie word, Higgy? I am unfamiliar with its use in this context. I bailed hundreds of prisoners in my previous life, i.e. I admitted them to bail. I explained top them -
"Bail is a promise. You are promising me that you will turn up at court or at the police station. If you break that promise, it will have consequences. If you do turn up, then it won't cost you anything" |
Re: Prince Andrew bailed up by Police

Re: Prince Andrew bailed up by Police
Sorry Flashy but I,ve since thrown the newspaper out. However a TV News report stated that whilst the Prince had accepted an apology the underlying theme that privately he was upset that the men had not recognised him, in both reports the was no mention that he was arrogant.

"When the Kelly's rode into the New South Wales town of Jerilderie early on Sunday, 8th Febrary 1879, the first thing they did was to bail up constables Devine and Richards at the police station so that the alarm could not be given. The police were then locked in their own cell". |
