Lib Dems General Election 2015
I know its 17 months away, but already the political parties and press are starting to focus on it.
There is only going to be 3 possible outcomes; Conservative majority Labour majority Coalition required The Lib Dems are an enigma. The theme they will be standing on - 'this tory government would have been the worst and most nastiest possible but thanks to us Lib Dems its not so bad; vote for us because we got a few concessions'. If anyone else thinks they are putting out a different message then please direct me to it, but that was certainly the message coming out of their conference and pre and post conference interviews. Personally, I would love to see them get wiped from the political map. It would be nice if Labour voters didn't vote for them because they kept the Conservatives out, It would be nice if Conservative voters did likewise. For years the Lib Dems have gotten away with promising things they could never deliver because they had no prospect of government; when in government albeit a coalition they went back on issues such as tuition fees (a promise which was totally unaffordable but if you don't think your going to get elected why not!) and failing on their obsession with the proportional representation referendum. |

Re: Lib Dems General Election 2015
Really! Do you think that if voting changed anything, they would allow us plebs to vote...of course not.....having an electorate means that politicians have someone to blame.
Whichever party you vote for...they will not listen to any of your concerns...they are not in it ot make life better for the general public, they are only in it to line their own pockets, make a nice fat nest egg, and jump on some lucrative gravy train. You could not put a sheet of bronco between any of them. |
Re: Lib Dems General Election 2015
The only thing that could possibly change anything (And thats very unlikely) is if enough people voted U.K.I.P. (also very unlikely) Though they will never gain office, it would probably put the craps up the other 3 n they then would humour the electorate by pretending to listen n change a few things.

I am surprised how many people I know who are involved with UKIP and how quickly support is growing for them. |
Re: Lib Dems General Election 2015
Neil, the fact that the three major parties have not listened to the concerns of the electorate..those people who pay MP's, is a great cause for seriously considering someone who might listen...though, I say might because politicians will promise just about anything to get your vote...once you have voted they don't seem so keen anymore.
The fact that certain politicians allowed unprecedented immigration to score political points is abominable....and that they took us to a war that was plainly not what the electorate wanted....that politicians have given away power to courts in another country....that we are paying increasing sums of money to keep a currency afloat that was doomed from its inception...all these issues have been ignored...and this is democracy for you. |
Re: Lib Dems General Election 2015
The war one is a difficult one because no one would ever want to go to war. We don't have the information that those in power have so we can't be expected to make such decisions.

The war in Kuwait before that was, if I remember correctly, justified because we had agreements with Kuwait. We will just have to wait and see what excuses the Tories give us if we end up in Syria. If the UK can cobble together enough troops that is. |
