A pain in the proverbial.
If you think that a forum member is being a pain in the proverbial(and I have no-one particular in mind when I say this) the answer is simple....just stop posting to that thread.
Take away the oxygen of interest. I know it is sometimes hard to do this.......and I have often promised to sign myself out of thread and then found myself wandering back to have another shot. While ever there are posters, the pain in the butt will continue to answer them...and things can get a bit silly. Painful poster(PP's) will not talk to themsleves. You know it makes sense...and makes less work for the Mods.(after all they have day jobs) |
Re: A pain in the proverbial.
Nearly made it a whole 24hrs.:dflam:

Re: A pain in the proverbial.
It is hard...and I have fallen a number of times....my excuse.....Old Timers Disease.
It is SO easy to be drawn back by a comment or an aside. To forget that you have signed yourself out of a thread.... But I am going to make a sterling effort. |
Re: A pain in the proverbial.
Whilst I agree with not giving these people a reason to post, we have seen all too often in the past, them starting threads and simply invading other threads in the desire to be noticed.
While I personally do not have any issue with anyones belief's, I do not want to bebbombarded and spoken down to on a regular basis. So I cannot promise to keep Stum. Sorry |
Re: A pain in the proverbial.
That is alright Si.
I am just trying to be balanced about how some posters seem to take over with threads that become very negative. It really does put some posters off coming to the site. It is just a suggestion....not an instruction......I would never have the temerity to tell people what to do. |
Re: A pain in the proverbial.
I hope it`s OK I do this, but someone sent me a karma message but didn`t leave any clue who it was. They think I was hassling you with my reply Margaret, I think/hope you know I wasn`t but would like them to know also.:)

The end of the problem is not giving them the attention that they so dearly crave.....because most of them are attention seeking egotists. They are not really interested in adding to the forum....they just take away...because some members will be put off posting. As I said previously...this is just a suggestion...it is up to you as an individual what to do with it..if you think it needs file 13 them put it there.:):) |

ah well you see neil if I do harass him I normally either do it in a pm or in the railway .. if in a pm it cant be put on here .. in the railway normally ends up buying a pint and im forgiven ... and the bus was standing still he'd have to pick his bus driver .. cos some of em still know me from when I worked there so if its one that don't know me im safe ... if its one that knows me .. then theres a chance he would drive over me .... :p |

Discussing politcs has its pitfalls too. Ideology becomes dogma. Party becomes truth ... a "truth" that views contending political truths as lies ... an interesting distortion of meaning ususally based on spurious logic. But, bottom line for me is: I just can't resist offering a little ridicule to anyone who talks down to me.;) |
Re: A pain in the proverbial.
Eric, I would never talk down to you.
I respect other forum members for their input to threads....I respect them for their differing views, which are usually interesting and borne of life experience......but every now and then someone comes along and wants to monopolise, to imply that their ideas, beliefs are the right ones, the only ones. Then things can get personal and sometimes even a bit nasty. And before you tell me that you were not meaning that I had talked down to you(well, at least that is what I hope).......I know! |

Well, there we go, consider yourself well and truly talked down to. Now, if someone can help me off this stool, no? Typical AccyWeb, not a Charitable Christian amongst us! :( |
Re: A pain in the proverbial.
The charitable christian(?) appears not to have been around much today.....unless he has been peeping at the forum undercover as a guest.
Have I missed him?...not a lot. I do hope it wasn't anything we said. That is sad, because if he got down off that one trick pony of his, he probably has some interesting life stories to tell. |

Anyone else notice, if you mix Accy Web (AW) with his name (KWard) you get awkward.

Just to rub it in a bit :D...today it is chicken and mushrooms in white wine and garlic sauce(I will only let the chicken see the garlic - i'm not fond of garlic) on a bed of long grain rice. I will be frying the chicken and mushrooms very soon...so the house will be full of the lovely aroma of what's for tea. |
Re: A pain in the proverbial.
I know exactly what you mean Eric, just come back from my spaghetti on toast dinner to this...

I have made it for the two of us, but I am having to stretch it to three.....as Spindles is coming to tea after school(his mum is not very well today).
Sorry if my menu's are making you hungry. |

Eric, Maybe it is the green stuff that keeps you going...natural antibiotic, not 'festered' with by SKG..or Schering or any of the other drug companies.
I work on the principle that if it looks alright, smells alright and tastes alright, then I don't bother what the sell by date is.......isn't that why we have a sense of taste and smell? Enjoy Eric, enjoy! |

Sorry I just couldn't help having a bit of a dig at a certain person(or two). |

I haven't ever cooked squirrel.......I wonder if chicken recipes would do?
Squirrel and Leek soup doesn't sound quite right.....neither does Squirrel noodle soup. I have frequently(and by accident - my lamps are dimming a bit) eaten bread that has mould on it....usually toasted, so not that easy to spot. I hate throwing bread away....I hate throwing anything away( a poverty stricken childhood to blame for this). |

Canadians are real bad for wasting food ... I think it comes from having so much ... in fact, the harvests out west were so good this year that the railways are having a hard time moving it all. Oh, and scratch the squirrel idea ... I've just been sitting outside (it's +4:cool:; might as well take advantage of the warm weather before the cold front rolls in next week;)) feeding peanuts to the squirrels; one of them actually sits on my shoulder ... another pulls my shoe laces when it wants another treat ... they are just too cute and friendly to kill and eat.:D |
Re: A pain in the proverbial.
I'm so glad you said that. I know squirrel are classed as vermin, but I think they are cute too!

John, I have only made the mistake of eating(or perhaps I should say, trying to eat)it once.
I can gag just thinking about it. I am told it is an acquired taste. It is something I am not even going to contemplate acquiring a taste for it! |
