Newsagents
Had a real shock to the system today, no morning newspaper.
I paid my usual bill last week, & the news agent never said a word, now when I rang up al I get is a recorded message that the buisess is closed. Where are their any news agents left, their used to be two in Nuttall St, two in Abbey st, one in Plantation St. Just tried reading a paper on line waste of good time and web spoace. Any one know who in my patch delivers a daily paper. |

Re: Newsagents
The mention of newspaper deliveries brought back memories to my Spring Hill bloke. When he was a lad of about 13 he used to deliver newspapers from Lower Oswaldtwistle to Top End. Delivered 30 newspapers morning and 30 in the afternoon on his pushbike.
6 a.m. start for the morning ones and straight after school for the others. The newsagent was Harold Haworth, Union Road – opposite the old Empire Cinema. Got paid 6 bob a week, which he tipped up to his mother to help out. Those were the days….. |
