Drugs are not subjective to one specific town. The bigger the town the more problems with drugs...

Oh I don't know Rob, I think it's more down to the demographics & ethnology than size.

1/10 for effort, 0/10 for content & 0/10 for originality, what sort of user name is that? See me after school.

New guy is right whether you want to acknowledge it or not.

Last time I walked across town I was passing through St James churchyard in the day with 5 kids. Pretty much as I stepped into the churchyard I noticed a guy propped up against a tree inject himself in the arm with heroin and collapse.

That was midday. God knows what happens in the evening.

Did you do the Good Samaritan thing and help the guy? Or did you walk on the other side of the road and ignore the guy?

Let me guess...

I am wondering how the hell he knew it was heroin? It could've been insulin and that dude injecting might be dead now

Exactly, too much jumping to conclusions and not enough human compassion methinks.

Perhaps he stood over him whilst he was overdosing " Was that heroin you just injected? "

" It was...."

"oh? What's that? Are you overdosing?" then walks off towards churchills

Which town are you referring to, we don't have a Bolton Road in Accrington.

Perhaps Bolton Avenue in Huncoat? Best match I can think of.

Drugs and Chav problem

I had 5 kids under 10 in my charge at the time, so there's no way I'm going to deal with him.

No one in the town seems to admit the town has a drugs problem much less care about it. The notion that people out of town should care more about it than those that do live in the town is an interesting though flawed concept.

The new guy to the forum is still correct whether you want to listen or not. Question is, what is it about this town that makes it so much worse than others? (This side of Scotland at least).

gpick24 24-12-2013 21:07

Re: Drugs and Chav problem

Drugs problems exist all over, not just here, as do people who make assumptions about others without knowing all the facts. Just because someone has a needle in their arm doesn`t mean they are a heroin user.

Gpick - are you blind to what occurs in your town? Surely you've been around the town by St James church / bottom of Warner Street. I've been there plenty and I've yet to walk around the place without seeing drugs, drunks or violence and that's during the daytime.

It is rare to the extent I see it in your town. There are parts of Glasgow and Airdrie that are similar but no it's not normal for any uk town.

No, I know there is a drugs problem and have seen it first hand with people I know (admittedly not heroin). What I`ve also seen is people injecting themselves with prescription medicine, how can you tell from what you saw if it was heroin or something else.

I think you're wasting your time gpick, he knows everything and we know nothing nor do we care about our town.

Never watched Family Guy, Outnumbered Christmas Special is best I could find.

Drugs and Chav problem

A few of reasons:

1) Injected medicine doesn't cause an immediate unconscious state.
2) most medicines including insulin are not injected into the inner arm at the elbow.
3) I've known heroin addicts and diabetics.

Even if you want to play devils advocate and give him the benefit of the doubt. Let's say he was injecting water...... the results at noon on a weekday are pretty shocking, and aren't what you see in the average church yard.

I don't see a lot of point in arguing the obvious. What would be better would be a discussion around what the mayor /police / social services and council should be doing about it. This is a governance issue.

Re: Drugs and Chav problem

I think most people on here blame the maundy shop for bringing out of town, for want of a better term, low lives, into accrington. I don`t know a lot about it except what i`ve read on here.
Just a point for your
No.1 - If you need an insulin injection and don`t do it quick enough wouldn`t that cause you to lose consciousness,
No.2 - If you need to inject medicine quickly, wouldn`t you go for the easiest option i.e. not pulling your pants down in a churchyard or try to remove a coat
Saying that you are right, i am playing devils advocate. just to make a point that it`s not usually a good thing to make assumptions.

Never seen anybody injecting anything. Closest ive come is finding the toilets closed on peel street...

I see the maundy shop getting a lot of flack here also, and it is also the only place I've heard about it.

Less - nice to see at least one turkey surviving the Xmas cull. Seasons greetings, even to you.

I would say yes.

So you are ignorant about Maunday, I bet that won't stop you from telling us what our opinion of it should be though.

You really should try for a little originality in your insults if you want them to hit the target instead of just making people feel sorry for your 50% lack of wit.

Careful what you say Eric or he'll practice his skills of the put down on you.

Just give him a moment and he'll steal something from the internet so he can lash you with his sharp tongue.
