Disgusting

That video of those girls in Blackburn Centre! Awful what they were doing to the poor lass! I hope we never see those scenes in Accrington!

Re: Disgusting

can i just say, its nothing new really is it? when i was a kid i was set upon by 3 girls, nothing much was ever done about it by the police, all they did was tell the girls off, this has now become a 'disgusting' event because it can now been filmed, what was a scuffle 25 years ago has now become big news thanx to the press and social media (oh and political correctness)

i am in now way condoning what has happened

its just that we have a different approach to things nowadays

and Accringtonnewbie..... it happened to me in Accrington

Re: Disgusting

You are right Flashy when you say this type of thing has always gone on......I think the disturbing element is that it was filmed and posted to a social media site.
Like it is something to be proud of.

Acceptance of such situations means that they become the 'norm'......which can never be good.
Feral behaviour is feral behaviour...no matter when, or where it occurs.

gpick24 14-01-2014 13:03

Re: Disgusting

I think even 25 years ago, most people would have found what that girl did to be disgusting. Just for anyone who hasn`t seen it - A young girl walking through town minding her own business is dragged to the floor by her her, repeatedly kicked and punched in the face, someone steps in and splits them up. She then goes up to the girl and punched her in the face again.
I for one hope they throw the book at the chavy scrubber.

Margaret Pilkington 14-01-2014 13:11

Re: Disgusting

I think we have fallen into the trap that was set by the media......we use sensationalistic words for very bad behaviour.

Society continues the downward slide because people do not step up to the mark and proclaim that this is unacceptable(and this does not include the posters on here - because we are clearly all of a similar opinion).
People accept bad behaviour and bad language in public by saying that it is 'how it is nowadays'.
Even our MP has excused himself after using gutter language by saying that it is the vernacular of now.

Parents cannot be with their children all of the time, but if you start out by teaching children firstly to respect themselves, secondly to respect others and teaching them good manners then that goes a long way.
Peer pressure?
Well yes, some adolescents seem to need the acceptance of those who they go around with...and will commit such acts to gain acceptance.
Is that what we want of our children?
If I had done something like this, my parents would have wiped the floor with me.
It all starts in the home.

Nope I think folk have fallen into the trap set by the thread starter.
Since coming to our town/area not had a good thing to say about it. Always coming up with bad examples. I'm beginning to wonder why his/her parole officer sent him/her here?
After all, who moves into a town they've never been to, know nothing about and keep dragging up the bad bits we already know about?
He/she obviously isn't happy here, maybe he/she should ask for a transfer somewhere more appropriate ?
What had he/she done to deserve having to live in these surroundings?

Margaret Pilkington 14-01-2014 14:52

Re: Disgusting

Less, if it hadn't happened then it would not have been commented on, and it happened in Blackburn, rather than Accrington.

gpick24 14-01-2014 14:56

Re: Disgusting

It shouldn`t happen anywhere, and for all we know she could be from Accrington.

Margaret Pilkington 14-01-2014 15:41

Re: Disgusting

You are right, she could be from anywhere and it just is not acceptable where ever it happens. Feral behaviour from feral people, who think that notoriety, however it is achieved is of value.
No respect, either for self or for others.

Re: Disgusting

i wish someone had filmed my then 8 year old getting punched in the face launching him from his bike then been kicked repeatedly by a 30 plus year old african male

these things did happen long before social media and smart phones but what is better about it these days is that with so many cameras about evidence can be gathered and used as is the case here.

Margaret Pilkington 14-01-2014 17:41

Re: Disgusting

Yes evidence can be gathered, but what is the betting that nothing much is done and the perpetrators get off with it and get hero worshipped by those who value this feral behaviour?
Adolescents are getting the wrong messages...and these come from adults who do not step up to the plate and monitor and discipline them in the way that they should.

From what I`ve heard tonight, that is likely to be the case I`m afraid.

Margaret Pilkington 14-01-2014 19:59

Re: Disgusting

Don't tell me that you are surprised!
Evidence is useless unless it is going to be used against the perpetrators.

gpick24 14-01-2014 20:03

Re: Disgusting

No, not surprised at all. Hope the caution she got comes back to haunt her in the future, will be on a CRB check for a while.

Re: Disgusting

This is very distressing - but what gets me is that someone actually stands there and videos this sort of thing instead of trying to help the victim. I don't know this case in particular but know of similar ones that have happened in this part of the world, where people have stood around and made no effort to intervene. Standing there taking videos (for their own gratification and excitement???) which often incites the perpetrators to be more vicious.

I know that people don't like to get involved and are worried for their own skin but surely if they have anything about them the first thing to do is to try to help the hapless victim.
What if the victim belonged to them? How would they feel knowing that no-one had helped.

The attackers are bullies and cowards - the video takers are not much better.

You are spot-on Margaret with your comments in regard to respect.

gpick24 14-01-2014 22:22

Re: Disgusting

Dotti, I think the person taking the video was with the girl, he was recording before the assault took place. They walked alongside their victim for a short time then she was grabbed from behind and dragged her to the ground kicking and punching her in the face.
Someone did step in at this point.

dotti34 14-01-2014 23:20

Re: Disgusting

gpick24, many thanks for the update on this case. At least this time it wasn't what I had thought had happened - but we have had some awful cases here where there has been an assault and the people around HAVE behaved in the fashion I set out in my post.
Some of the assaults have happened at schools and involved student/s, the perpetrator/s encouraged by the mob all clicking away - what sort of adults are they going to be I wonder, the ones involved AND the 'clickers'.

I apologise that I appear to have given you that impression! On the contarary I love it hear and I love the towns folk. I do just enjoy a good moan. I will try to be more on the positive side in future!

by the way i know it is illigal to name children in court cases etc but without people coming forward and naming these girls on facebook they would have most likely got away with it

well it turns out they have in a way anyway

Until they are arrested and in court they are not in court cases so are they still protected or only after they are arrested?

i have no idea but it seems harsh to go after those who helped their capture.Fair enough them going after ones who have made threats though

If the link posted by Neil is correct, then what I heard is probably incorrect, I don`t think you can get a caution/reprimand from the police and then go to court as well.

Whatever our thoughts or feelings, there is due process of law to be followed.

Taking the law into your own hands is going to get anyone who does it some serious grief.
You cannot set yourself up as judge and jury....not even when there is concrete evidence.

i think the age of protection from been named needs lowering

if you can have kids, fight for your country etc then you can be resposible for your actions and the effects they have

mind you saying that you can die for your country ,have a baby but cant have a drink and a smoke

lol just realized you can have sex but cant watch a movie of other people having sex lol

what a contridiction our system is
