Pals memorial service on 16th Feb

Anyone got last Saturdays Observer. There is an article about a memorial service on 16th Feb for the Accy Pals and they are after relatives of Soldiers killed in the Great War. It gives a telephone number of a Lady soldier called Shelley in the article who you can contact for information.

Is there anyone who could get the number for me?

Phil

Yes, I was sat on the left in an end seat near the nave. My mac was on the end of the pew. It was excellent - a good choice of hymns. 25 standard bearers, of which 9 were British Legion. I enjoyed Les Bond's song ( sung with Alan St John) specially written for the centenary of the start of the Great War. I missed much of the visiting vicar's sermon, as he didn't have a microphone. I didn't notice a standard bearer in RAF uniform.

Our Mayor, Judith Addison, did a reading - with great clarity and expression.

I remember a friend of yours joined you just before it started and I gave him a hymn book. I was actually sat behind your friend.

Wish I'de introduced myself to you now...doh

The minister should have had a microphone, I struggled to hear him as well.

The standard bearers looked very proud and it was very emotional, it was also nice to see some school kids there...they will be the ones remembering the PALS in the future....

Lots of dignitries and councillors around but didnt notice Peter Britcliffe there.

regards

Phil
