`Investment grade diamonds`

Somebody I know has been very lucky....twice.
The first time after being cold called,he agreed to purchase
a diamond for £3500,(0.025carat)
He got cold feet and retrieved his envelope from Royal mail (he says)
They came back for more so he bought another one for £4500 (0.050carat)
Both times he managed (he says) to retrieve his cheque.

These people have been targetting him since November,
Using first names and promoting a sort of friendship,
The` Sucker List` probably has got your relative on it too..

0.025 carat is this size *

I think I know the words you mean ... in Canada we use three: the two you mention plus "eh".;)

Does it mean "go away"?

Technically: "Copulate elsewhere"

This type of selling is probably legal,I have the literature in front of me and it clearly
states the size or weight of the diamond and the price they want for it.
It`s the control of their target which in some way obligates them into believing
there is genuine investment potential, this is dodgy.

It's on a par with the text message I got last week telling me the cheque for two thousand odd quid for the accident I had a few months back is waiting to be cashed. What a load of tosh. The world is full of scumbags waiting to take it off you.

They are getting very targeted with their emails. I've had to cover up the webcam because I'm constantly bombarded with viagr* and p*nis enlargement offers.

Well how else would they know?

Don't Worry Studio25. I haven't got a web cam and I get these e-mails too.
One of them asked if I wanted a bigger Pen is....I sent an e-mail back and said only if it could be used as a door stopper :)

Anything can be investment grade - it's simply the term used to indicate to the customer that the reason for buying is that they will resell it later for a profit. It seems diamonds have been a poor choice for investment since De Beers lost their monopoly over a decade ago, because the discovery of new mines is dropping the price of raw diamonds and the second-hand price is plummeting as a result.

I really hope you are joking about sending them an e-mail
It's the last thing you should do as it proves the e-mail address is still active and you will get more junk

I would doubt the persons word about getting the envelope back from the Royal Mail. Once it goes in a postbox it belongs to the Crown until it arrives at the address on the front. Strictly speaking mail should be put through the letter box not handed to the addressee outside the property.Obviously if it will not go through the letterbox it could be handed over if the recipient is inside the house. I think who ever told the tale is telling porkies.
