I wouldn't say it's a fact C'mon, admittedly some H&S implementation does save lives & has proven useful at preventing injury, but a lot of it is unnecessary box ticking & protectionist. As I've mentioned previously, a fair part of the population at large don't deem common sense, self sufficiency & personal liability their concern nowadays, if somethings happened to them it was obviously someone elses fault & as such they're "entitled" to Compo from someone or something!

And that, reinforced by ACL's & nannying, mollycoddling government interference in to all aspects of private & personal life has reduced a once independent, willful, self reliant nation of people to the sorry misbegotten wretches you see or read about daily in the tabloids & loathsome "Reality" TV.

go to port antonio in jamaica and you will see what i mean this is one reason i think health and safety has been good for the UK.;:eek:;)

Why? What happens there is irrelevant to the situation in the UK. No one is denying the advantages of sensible H&S implementation where it's valid, but the layer upon layer of worthless, impractical & useless legislation is more hindrance than the harbinger of good it purports to be.

Yes ... but if the bench doesn't look safe, you don't have to park your ass on it. That's common sense ... and it works for me. Health and safety regs in the workplace make sense. But we should consider, and maybe C'mon would agree with this, that, originally, such rules were necessary to force tight-fisted and greedy employers to provide a safe working environment. But it seems to have gotten out of control.

Oh for the days when I worked at Duttons ... beer allowance in the a.m. and p.m., and a couple of pints at lunch time ... come four of the clock I was usually three parts in the bag.:D In the malt storage where I worked, three men drew a beer allowance for twelve ... God love the union:mosher:
