Myrtle House Medical Practice
I rang my mother today and she informed me that had heard that Dr.Manual had retired. Can anyone shed anymore light on this?

Re: Myrtle House Medical Practice
I was in there yesterday , which is now the surgery's half-day .
There was an Asian doctor present , but he could be standing in for one on holiday . I heard no news about Dr Manuel . I hope he hasn't retired . He was great with my parents in their old age and in their dying . |
Re: Myrtle House Medical Practice
Dr.Manuel is our doctor and has worked on casualty at Accy Vic with my mother. He is a dam good doctor.

Re: Myrtle House Medical Practice
Yes, I'm pretty sure he's retired, I found a photo of his retirement do online a few weeks ago whilst I was searching for their opening times.

Re: Myrtle House Medical Practice
He's definitely retired, when I asked the receptionist who was taking over from him she said "No-one, we've merged with the Oswald Medical Practice, the doctor you see will depend on who they send." Can anyone recommend a good doctor?

Re: Myrtle House Medical Practice
Rhyddings Surgery are very good in my experience, you can usually see which doctor you prefer. Dr's Prout, Smith and Craig are really nice people. My family have been with them for years and they also have another surgery in Shadsworth.

Re: Myrtle House Medical Practice
Dr Manuel was my doctor.
It would have been nice to have been notified of this change:rolleyes: I last saw him when he visited me in December. He always was slim build, but looked very thin. I wonder if he is retiring due to some health problem. I have looked at the website for Oswald medical practice - no mention of Dr Dixon - is he retiring too? |
Re: Myrtle House Medical Practice
I will stay with doc Dixon very nice doc and thinks he is a comic at times he also works at the nursing home the wife works for

Re: Myrtle House Medical Practice
From the Myrtle House website: Myrtle House Surgery - GP Surgery Website.
On the 2nd of May 2014 Dr Athur Manuel retired as GP partner and the practice merged with Oswald Medical Centre who also have branch surgeries in the Acorn Centre, Accrington & also Oswaldtwistle & Blackburn. We are pleased to say we can now also offer our patient's appointments at the Acorn Centre to see a GP or to use their treatment room facilities. |
Re: Myrtle House Medical Practice
It's sad to see a good practice folding up .

Re: Myrtle House Medical Practice
My husband left Oswald Medical Centre to join Myrtle House as he could never get an appointment when he needed one. I hope the appointment system at Myrtle House stays as it is now.

Re: Myrtle House Medical Practice
Just be thankful you ren't with Pals...it would be a week next Camel racing day!
You could be dead and buried by the time you get an appointment there. |
Re: Myrtle House Medical Practice
Rang at 8.15 this morning waited 10 mins then got an appointment for 10.40, although I didn't see the doc till 11.30 and yet it was quiet in the waiting room. The other two people waiting were complaining as well. This practice is going downhill fast.

Re: Myrtle House Medical Practice
Didn't they give you an explanation, such as an emergency, etc?
Myrtle House Surgery - Practice Charter <<WAITING TIMES We run an appointment system. You will be given a time at which your doctor or nurse hopes to be able to see you. You should not have to wait more than 30 minutes in the waiting room without receiving an explanation for the delay. >> |
Re: Myrtle House Medical Practice
No nothing at all.

Re: Myrtle House Medical Practice
My wife was waiting for x ray results. When she rang up they said the doctor was trying to ring her but had no contact details for us. When I rang to complain ,The secretary had all our contact details in front of her and apologised for the doctor. We have been with that practice for a long while now

Re: Myrtle House Medical Practice
I think somebody on the front desk might be embroidering the truth. The reason I say that is because I ordered just one of the two items I get on repeat prescription. When the chemist fulfilled the order I saw straight away that it wasn't what I ordered and I immediately I phoned the surgery asking for a corrected prescription to be made out immediately and I'd call to collect. I was told that I had been given what I ordered ...
"erm - check my online order and you'll see that that isn't true". I was then asked to wait whilst she conferred with somebody and when she eventually picked up the phone again she said that she checked with the doctor and what I'd been given did the same job as the item I'd actually ordered. Sometimes it seems people think you've dropped out of a banana tree; the item I ordered was to be taken twice daily and the item I hadn't ordered was only to be taken in emergencies & I still had a supply of that. I didn't actually repeat that statement - I just asked the girl if she was trying to kill me. I doubt she'd asked Dr Dixon. |
