nice folk around aint there
my other half stopped today to help a man who had fallen in the road.
cars were mounting the pavement and just driving around him while others coming the other way stopped to scream pi$$ head at him and take his picture with their phones pitty they didnt use zoom on their camera phones they would have been able to see his medical tag saying he had epilepsy this was at Ewood near mcdonalds so if your a facebook user and you see pictures of a collapsed man in the road doing teh rounds that person posting it is scum if it wasnt for my otehr half blocking the road with herr car he would have most likely been hit eventually by a car or bus. Some of teh profanity was aimed at my other half for helping luckily a midwife stopped to help and an ambulance was called so he should be ok |
Re: nice folk around aint there
Just another example of how peoples attitudes, priorities & values seem to have eroded over the years. It appears the UK is generally becoming a poorer & less caring place to be.

Re: nice folk around aint there
Accyman, you just have to remember that one day the people who were acting is such a manner may be in need themselves....and they may not get help. Thank goodness there are still some kind hearted people about...one that will help another human in need.
Good on you and your good lady. |
Re: nice folk around aint there
that's awful what happened .. good on her for stopping to help him and to the midwife stopping as well ... from someone who drops without warning and scares quite a few people ...ive been lucky when ive dropped .. I haven't had my handbag/purse/phone nicked ive heard stories about that happening... and people have helped and rang an ambulance. There are some good hearted people around ...

Re: nice folk around aint there
I agree with you Jen. We sometimes think that there are no good hearted people about....we can become cynical, but there will always be those who will do things for others...and for no other reason than they can help at the time of need.

Accyman - I'm sending a virtual bunch of roses and a bottle of champagne to your Mrs. However, she has caused me to have a song in my head that will be with me all day -= 'If I can help somebody, as I pass along, then my living will not be in vain'

Re: nice folk around aint there
My daughter has a terrible fear of this happening to her, she has a brain stem cavernoma which has caused stroke like symptoms when she has had a bleed. People can be so intolerant/ignorant and don't look beyond the end of their noses. Walking past is one thing but shouting abuse and taking pictures is disgusting. The age we live in has become so selfish and shallow, kids growing up with no respect for anyone with parents who are no better. I hope the chap is ok and well done to your other half Accyman, some people restore your faith in human nature!

That is the problem, if parents demonstrate no respect for others then of course the children will follow such examples. I suspect though for each of the families like this there must be another ten families that do teach their children right and wrong, otherwise this sort of incident would be far more common. |
