Finally, the Supreme Court of Canada has, in a unanimous decision, struck down the ban on doctor-assisted suicide. And the court has given the Federal Government a year to craft a new law. In an election year, with the majority of Canadians supportive of doctor-assisted suicide this will be difficult. Now, as in the case of abortion, there is no law.

Not as black and white as this but my thoughts are, if someone is fully competent and has the mental capacity to make informed discussions and they want to end their life, it's not the place of the state or anyone else to step in and say they can't.
