Let's not make this thread about my dislike of FB.

my mate used to live on Ellison Street back in the 80's. They couldn't have the windows open during the day otherwise fumes used to overwhelm them. I remember his mum didn't like the buses that much :D

Ernie, friend of family(our neighbour) used to drive them and so did my Uncle.

Who operates the municipal bus system now? What color are they? And how's the service?

It was Ernie who convinced me that driving Accy buses was a good job.
I'd just finished a summer season driving coaches and was looking for a job.
I did three weeks, as I previously stated, and jumped ship PDQ.
Ernie stayed on for many years, Restless knows more.

Are you referring to Ernie the model railway enthusiast?

Gremlin 17-06-2015 17:12

Re: Accrington buses....all in one place.

I can't recall him being a railway enthusiast.
He liked his CB and went in to be a radio ham G0JSQ.
We took out Morse code test together at Fleetwood nautical
College.
His name was Walton. Lived on Steiner street, moved to Bury with Lucy and according to Restless is now deceased.

Definitely a different Ernie. The Ernie I knew lived off Whalley Road, between Victoria Hospital and the Grey Horse, he's also sadly no longer with us.

I use Lancashire United's service:-

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lancashire_United

They are ok untill 6pm, which happens to be a great time to see their "sorry not in service" service.

Attachment 49445

They provide a great,punctual service...

...if you remember that for a few million years there were no buses. ;)

I retired in 1998 but hadn't driven a bus or coach since 1969.
I did coach tours for Batty Holt in 64/65. We did Italian Reveria.
I drove for Standerwicks on the Gay Hostess double deck coaches in the London job from Burnley or Blackpool.
I passed my test for PSV on a PD 2 with crash box and vacuum brakes.
The three weeks in Accy buses was a nightmare with the old Guys with Gardner engines all clapped out.

I gave you a European Cup program??? When, how and why? haha

I lived nearly opposite you for a short while about 9 years ago.
Oldish chap, bald head. Interested in photography.
That was me Paul. We had a few conversations and you widened your path to get a motorcycle down the back of your house.
I think I had a new Astra estate at the time.
