The energy efficient light bulbs definitely saved us money when we had people living in our house who didn't realise that light switches could also turn lights off.

Interesting that the first mentioned focus for the newly appointed National Infrastructure Committee is "northern connectivity...especially east-west across the pennines".
Also interesting from where the Committe is drawn (birthplace - education, where known):
Lord Adonis -London -Oxford
Lord Heseltine - Swansea - Oxford
Sir John Armitt - London - Portsmouth:eek:
Prof Tim Besley - London (?) - Oxford/LSE
Demis Hassabis - London - Cambridge
Sadie Morgan - ? - Kingston (upon Thames)
Bridget Rosewell - Wimbledon -Oxford
Sir Paul Ruddock - Solihull - Oxford.
