How low can HBC sink?

The FRONT PAGE of last weeks Observer contained a story about the nine female Community Wardens who, the article said, were prepared to strip naked to save their jobs.

While that fool Britcliffe is running off at the mouth blaming all and sundry for the failings of his own administration, ordinary decent human beings are forced to resort to this sort of thing to keep their jobs. It is one thing for members of the WI to strip off as a novel and effective way of raising money for charity. But people should not feel that they are compelled to do the same to keep their jobs. Good God, what kind of society are we creating for ourselves. What will be the next step on the road to decedence, HBC sponsored brothels to keep a lid on council tax rises?

I've got a question - what's the difference between community wardens & police community support officers? I've read that Blunkett wants to double the number of PCSO's from 12,000 to 24,000 over the next 2 years. Are our wardens another name for PCSO's or are they completly different? If they're the same, why are we getting rid of them when central government policy is to expand their numbers?

Does anyone have any idea whats going on? I'm confused.

Was this a year ago? Time gone no where. Did it happen? Do we still have female wardens or any other for that matter.....

got to dissagree there staggers i know peopel who have benefited from the comunity wardens and a very nice lady lisa evans helped me out and my neighbours with some realy bad problems in our area

they also do a pretty good job in the curch area where my friend lives from what i have heard

granted i dont agree with everything they do but the way i see it is we are better off with them than without them:)

dont get me wrong the idea of naked women pleases me but i would rather see it been done for charity than in an attempt to save their jobs especialy when HBC wastes thousands of pounds each year on trivial things like rolleroaster rides on broadway which could have been better spent funding the comunity wardens infcact if my memory is correct the mayor swearing in ceromony cost £50,000 which would have funded the wardens alone for a year

The key word here is "community" to which we all belong in one form or another. These communities need to stop being polite to the council and give them hell for the uncertainty created by this debarcle!!!
