For an explanation, see New Accy's profile and search his postings from 5 May 2011 in "What going to happen to Clayton Le Moors Pie".

They wouldn't need subsidising if they weren't more expensive than a taxi for most local journeys these days, especially if there's more than one of you. £2.50 from Accy to Clayton is ridiculous.

For the more rural areas its obviously a shame, but as Lancashire County council have no interest in anything East of Preston it doesn't come as a surprise.

in a world that has predictive text its hard to tell the difference between learning difficulties and predictive text

i dont use public transport but maybe someone can answer this

when fuel prices went up the bus fares went up so did they come down once the fuel prices dropped a considerable amount?

LCC must reduce expenditure - they have to meet the cost of Pennine Reach, not just the bus stations but the road changes as well.
As the contracts are running behind the completion dates are the contractors going to be responsible for the cost overruns?
All the major contracts I have worked on had penalty clauses - UK, USA, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Germany. Of course the contracts were drawn up by professionals on both sides of the table.
