How Annoyed Should I be?

I've been musing this point since Friday morning.

A letter was pushed through my door, rather than bore you with the full details of it's contents here's the short version.

Friday was bin day, my bin was out because I am a dutiful member of our society, obviously the bin police in the mean time had inspected the back alley, then, they walked all the way around the terrace to give me a final warning (it included a threat of a £1,000 fine).

According to them, I have yet again placed a bulky item to be removed. Well, not only had they got the address wrong AGAIN, I didn't place the micro-wave oven on the alley nor did my neighbour (it was outside their yard).

When are you people going to stop issuing these notices to the wrong people and realise that when people do this type of crime it's never outside their own house.

I have actually sent several requests to the Councils web site asking about this, however, it seems I'm guilty because the evidence (they claim) was there.

Ee by gum,The number of illegal tipping incidents and the council chooses our Less as a perpetrator....whatever next.
Only 2k?, Shame on the councils environment enforcement officers, it should be at least 5k.
Perhaps you could consider legal action against the council for failing in its duty to clear up all the sh1te in the borough plus adding fuel to the fire that is illegal fly tipping.

This microwave may not have been dumped it may have been lost or wandered off from its natural habitat .I hope the council jumping to the conclusion it has been dumped hasnt led to yet another unsolved missing microwave incident :(

Have you reported this as fly tipping?

While in an ideal world you shouldn't have to, when I've done it in the past it's been cleared up pretty quickly.

Thats exactly what we did a couple of months ago and a councillor came down and it was sorted.

Re: How Annoyed Should I be?

problem is if you dont know the item is there you cant report it and it seems that the council just assume whoever's property it is outside is guilty no matter what

i suppose he should be thankful he hasnt been stood near any dog turds recently or they would be blaming him for that as well

Have some fun, before every bin day move it to outside someone else's back gate - then everyone gets a letter and eventually the offending person will :)

I'm not touching it, I might leave fingerprints and then the refuse police would really be after me.
:o

if its an old microwave turn the dial to 60 mins then ring up the police and say theres a ticking object in the back alley

it will be shifted in no time

Just goes to show how stupid the council really are! No common sense only care about the community when it benefits them or makes the look good in the paper! Would not trust them as far as I could chuck them! And the microwave too!

Why do they think it was your microwave? Or your neighbours

Perhaps because like me it was unwashed and neglected?

Could be that it is payback from someone who occasionally comes on here?

Payback? I never give anyone a reason for payback, they always make rods for their own backs.😈

Less once stuck his tongue out at me

although i was glad it was only his tongue i felt so enraged by the matter i obtained a broken microwave , dumped it outside his back gate under cover of night and reported the issue as a fly tipping incident to HBC..

i hope this fabricated explanation brings closure to the issue at hand

whatever it may be :D:D:D:D

Maybe the councilor that came on here to clear his name could have ago at clearing your name as well Less

ya know help the people and all that :)

I think I'd rather remain in the Councils bad books if you don't mind, it is a far lesser evil than to be involved in his next attempt at improving the Borough. (I'd probably end up with a new land fill site outside my back gate).

[threat of a £1000 fine] can the council issue such a fine without proof of a violation or breach of a law

The short answer is 'no'.
The council would have to take you to court and they would give you a 'fine'.
They may well be able to issue a fixed penalty tho.

Re: How Annoyed Should I be?

If we go back to the very start of the incident, where the bin policeman spotted the offending microwave, then spent time writing out a warning notice, going round to the front door, posting it through the letter box, thereby provoking a discussion in which many regular contributors to this forum have had to spend many hours arguing the pros and cons of the council bin collection service (all cons, it seems. I haven't seen any pros).....

If, instead of him doing all that, he'd just stuck the microwave on the back of his van and taken it to the tip, we'd have all been spared the palava.......

Is there a lesson there for the council? Or are the bin policemen too 'important' to get their hands dirty?

The Council and lesson should never be in the same sentence.;)

All that's needed doing is move it from the back to the front and then the scrap metal pickeruppers will be along to pick it up. :)

Oh dear, gone back into hiding again after calling me a liar and having one of his fellow (Labour) Councillors accuse me on HC of "hassling" him. I have asked both of them to clarify and justify their statements but of course I won't be holding my breath.

He is the wrong one, for waste services you need Councillor Paul Cox. Here are his details Councillor details - Paul Cox

accyman 14-12-2015 15:30

Re: How Annoyed Should I be?

i wouldn't say it was a waste service issue but more one of a harassment issue or false accusation without proof issue

less has been accused of a criminal offence / fly tipping without any substantial proof or evidence indicating that he should be the one getting threatened with a £1000 fine

im pretty sure this isnt any councilors fault but one of the morons who keep their jobs whoever wins the election and seem to have more powers than the police themselves or at least not confined to restrictions such as proof and evidence

this is why i suggested contacting a councilor that he is at least on a first name basis with :D:D

You are right but the Councillor is responsible for that section so he should be told whats going on in the same way Ken took the blame for the crem cross

Whoa there obsequious one.....are you saying that Paul Cox is as much to blame for Less getting his warning letter as Ken Moss is for the crematorium fiasco:-

Instead of getting a balanced news report in the local press, it ended up starting a war in the Daily Mail. The Council officers were bombarded with calls from people who said we should be clamping down on Muslim immigration (this had nothing to do with Muslims, who don't use the Crem anyway) to death threats from people who claimed to be regular church goers.

I'm sure some wil find that amusing, but the number of emails also heavily criticising the church was surprising. They wouldn't have had that if they'd not fallen into bed with Peter. I just think that is a shame.

You then get Britcliffe crowing in the papers that HBC have acceded to his 'demands' which to be honest just damages us all (and again the emails bore this out).

The saddest thing of all is that Cllr Judith Addison, also a lay preacher, wrote a magnificent Facebook post looking at things from both sides of the fence.

She was completely ignored by the press.

C'mon Paul..blame the Daily Mail and Britcliffe for the letter that Less got..then again with friends like super moderator and his in the know mates..who needs enemies
