Wallonia?????
Am I the only on who has never heard of this place? If this is the EU, then Brexit is starting to look good, real good. One mickey mouse region of a relatively obscure country can stymie a deal favored by the governments of over 500,000,000 people:confused:

Re: Wallonia?????
Now you might get a flavour of how tortuous dealing with the EU really is.
How long have we put up with crap like this? Too bloody long. We need to be out, right out.And the bankers are talking about leaving the UK.....these are the same bankers that have been screwing us over for years. I don't know if their threats are for real or whether they are being engineered by those who wish to put a stop the us leaving the EU. All to do with 'money passports' |
Re: Wallonia?????
And yes Eric, I have heard of Wallonia. One of the nurses I worked with had family in Wallonia.....and she would often talk in Walloon to make us laugh.....we did not know what she was saying, but it sounded funny....a bit like french, but not like french....if that isn't double Dutch!

Re: Wallonia?????

Germany, not Wallonia, is to blame for the collapse of EU-Canada trade talks | Coffee House
This article suggests that Germany may be at the root of the no go with the CETA deal rather than Wallonia. |
Re: Wallonia?????
I've heard of Wallonia, I've also heard of Germany, I'd trust the Wallonians far more than the Fourth Reich anyday.

Re: Wallonia?????
Ah, the Walloons! Froggy speaking (sort of) Belgeeks, eastern Belgium with a border crossing close to Aachen Germany, travelled through it a few times, but didn't really stop unless to fill up or take a leak.
Surprised they're going against their "Deutsche Meister" seeing as how they happily joined them in 1941 as the Walloon free corps, later to be known as the 373rd Wallonian infantry battalion, then in 1944 after "Operation Overlord" more of their kinsmen joined the ranks & they were then upgraded & redesignated as 28th SS Volunteer Grenadier Division Wallonien. Need one say any more? Oh & the heathens eat 'Osses & Donkeys! |
Re: Wallonia?????
If they eat 'osses and donkeys' you were right not to stay too long.
|
Re: Wallonia?????
It appears that the eu has given the Walloonies assurances (that they'll have their benefits cut & their lives made more miserable (is that possible for the Belgeeks) if they don't do as Drunker & the Fuhrerin demand). So the CETA deal is to be signed off Sunday.
Democracy eu style, don't you just love it? |

They have learned nothing from the vote for the UK to leave. They rely on threats to try and mould nations to their will.......it doesn't work....but still they continue. |
