Re: Directly elected Mayor

I am pleased to say the good people of Burnley have voted against having an elected mayor. Mr Berg will now no doubt turn his attention to another place he owns a house and doesnt like paying for a licence.

Thank goodness the people of Burnley have kicked that hot potato into the long grass.
I hope it is never found again.

Me too. It will be interesting to see if Mr Berg trys it on in Blackburn as he said he would do once the Burnley vote was done.

I hope that if he does, they will give him the same 'bums rush'.
We do not need charlatans like him in the local political mix. We have enough of our own without importing them from outside the area.

Quite right Margaret. Mr Berg is only doing this for his own gain, he hopes, he has no interest in any of the people in the towns he is meddling in. It is purely sour grapes on his part and I am so relieved that the folk in Burnley saw through his treachery.

This situation is so complicated. As essay writer for grademiners I even wrote an essay on this news. Check it out if you want.
