Found!
I am putting this on the general part of the forum as it may get more attention in this section.
Found in Blackburn Road Clayton le Moors a bunch of Keys. One is obviously a house door key. If you have lost these please PM me...before they are handed over to anyone you will need to be able to tell me how many keys and the type they are and anything else which makes the keys identifiable. If anyone out there wants to put something on Facebook...then you have my blessing. I do not do facebook. Many thanks in anticipation that the item can be reunited with the owner |
Re: Found!
If you drop them off at the police station (is there still one?) they will likely just put them straight in the bin.
Try putting a sign up near where they were found,m the owner may retrace their steps. |
Re: Found!
My husband found these keys on his way back from town this morning.
We could not drop them off at the police station today...a trip into town would be needed. Someone is going to be very upset to have lost their house keys. A change of locks is not cheap...especially when you could be putting the money towards Christmas. Thank you for your advice..Might just do that. I have faith in the power of Accyweb. |
Re: Found!
These keys were found near the bus stop at what was the Load of Mischief.
Might put a note up in the bus shelter tomorrow. |
Re: Found!
I have just put a notice up in the bus shelter.
I tried to stick it on the outside, but it would not stick at all due to the cold(I even dried the surface with a kitchen towel) It struggled to stick on the inside too. Hopefully someone will see it and the keys can be returned. I have done my best. |

Radio Lancs

Re: Found!
I hadn't thought of that Ferret man...maybe because I do not listen to radio anymore.
Might give them a call later. Thank you for your suggestion. |
Re: Found!
Just a bit of an update here.
I emailed Radio Lancashire and got a zero response. My poster in the bus shelter stayed up despite the damp and the frost.....and today I had a call from the police asking about these keys. The lady who owned them had seen the poster, but felt a bit chary about contacting me in person. Her friends had filled her head with scenarios of the scary 'what if' nature. Anyway the upshot is she identified the keys accurately and picked them up just after 1pm today. She asked if we would like a bottle of wine or chocolates. I told her that I wanted nothing more than to return the keys to their owner...that was enough of a reward for me....so the case is now closed and the lady has her keys back. Thank you for your good ideas. Two heads are always better than one. |
Re: Found!
I'm glad i aint got friends like the lady has. Well done Margaret.

Re: Found!
Me too Cashy...and it is only really what I would expect/hope others to do if I were unfortunate enough to lose my keys.
Had it got to Friday and they had not been claimed I was going to take them into the Police Station on Broadway. Now I don't need to :) |
Re: Found!
Job well done MP.

Re: Found!
Thank you Ferret man.
I like to make a difference...in a good way. |
Re: Found!
Good news that the lady got her keys back but how sad that some people feel they need to be so wary of someone who's trying to do them a good turn.
|
Re: Found!
Yes, it is sad.
When the lady came and met us she could not believe that she could be scared of coming for her keys. Her friends had told her that we might have had duplicates cut, that we might follow her to see where she lived, then go in and rob her. I told her that I would never have thought of that...and that perhaps she had the wrong sort of friends. Don't they say that the thought is father to the deed....and to the pure all things are pure. |
Re: Found!
All's well that ends well.
Saves someone a big bill (new locks) before xmas. |
Re: Found!
Yes...that was my aim.
|
Re: Found!
Well done Margaret, some car keys can cost well over £100 pounds. They we very lucky.
|
Re: Found!
Bea, It was house Keys...front door(very fancy Yale key)...and then some mortice keys.
It would have been expensive to get new ones and then you would always be worried that someone out there had a set of keys to your house...I would have had to get the locks changed to feel secure...that is expensive too. |
Re: Found!
