Accrington town centre in line for a share of Government money.
According to the front of the Accrington Observer today, the town missed out on getting funding to regenerate the High Street....it is said that although we won't get money...we will get advice.
Yet I have read elsewhere that Accrington is one of the 14 towns to share a pot of £1 billion pounds to try and bring life back to town centres. Preston is also one of the towns to be assisted in this way. It would be interesting to see how this money is to be used as this is a pilot scheme. If it is successful then the government will roll out help for 101 town centres. |

some of the goons were blaming our new M.P. for getting nowt, when this was decided before she was elected, just demonstrates how thick some are to me.

Re: Accrington town centre in line for a share of Government money.
And what will Accy council waste the monies on?
Something as equally bad and useless as they have already done? You cannot revive a dead duck no matter how much money you spend and accy centre is just that now. |
Re: Accrington town centre in line for a share of Government money.
That is exactly why I think there should be someone monitoring the use of the money.....and there should be someone independent holding the purse strings.
Our councils do not have a good track record in making the town centre better. There should be more made of the market...and the Market Hall. |

Re: Accrington town centre in line for a share of Government money.
No Accybeme, it said that it was one of 14 towns which would share the money....another local one mentioned was Fishergate in Preston....the article I read mentioned Broadway.
The Accrington Observer carried the story that the town would get no money...just advice. What good is advice if it is not backed up by financial support?....but it has to be appropriate financial support. |
